Top 16 Feature Match: Emmanuel Lilly vs. Leonardo Sacchetti
The Remote Duel Extravaganza is nearing its finale – we’re down to the Top 16 Duelists! Only one can earn the set of Ultra Rare Prize Cards: Darklord Asmodeus, Darklord Superbia, and Darklord Edeh Arae!
To kick things off, we’re back with Emmanuel Lilly and his Generaider Deck! This New York Duelist won his Round 5 Feature Match yesterday, and he’s returned to show off this unique strategy. His opponent is Leonardo Sacchetti, from Italy, playing Kashtira. It’s the most popular Deck for a reason, with a lot of powerful monsters and consistent combos. Will Kashtira be able to overcome the wall of disruption created by the Generaiders?
Duel 1
Lilly won the dice roll and chose to play first. In his Draw Phase, Sacchetti used Dimension Shifter. Lilly thought a moment, and activated Magical Meltdown to search for Aleister the Invoker. He then replaced his Field Spell with Generaider Boss Stage and Set two back row cards.
Sacchetti drew his card, triggering Boss Stage. Lilly Special Summoned Mardel, Generaider Boss of Light. He triggered the effects of Boss Stage and Mardel, and Chained World Legacy Monstrosity. With that he Special Summoned Harr, Generaider Boss of Storms and Nidhogg, Generaider Boss of Ice. Mardel added Loptr, Shadow of the Generaider Bosses to his hand, and finally Boss Stage created two Generaider Tokens. Sacchetti tried activated Dark Hole, and Lilly negated it with Harr, Tributing his two tokens. Sacchetti then played Triple Tactics Thrust to search for another Dark Hole, wiping out Lilly’s field! Sacchetti played Pot of Prosperity next, banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck to add Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir, which added Kashtira Riseheart to his hand. He Special Summoned Riseheart and used its effect to make it Level 7, banishing Kashtira Birth from his Deck. He played Kashtiratheosis to Special Summon Kashtira Unicorn. Kashtiratheosis was banished due to Dimension Shifter, and it added Kashtira Birth to his hand. He stacked Unicorn and Riseheart for Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation! He used its effect to target Lilly’s Set card, and Lilly flipped it: Infinite Impermanence, negating Dark Armed for the turn. Sacchetti played Kashtira Birth to Special Summon Unicorn. He sent Dark Armed to attack directly. Fenrir attacked next, banishing Boss Stage. Unicorn attacked and banished Invoked Mechaba from Lilly’s Extra Deck. Pot of Prosperity’s lingering effect meant Lilly only took half damage for the turn, leaving Lilly with 4150 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Sacchetti used Unicorn to add Kashtira Birth to his hand. Then he used Dark Armed to play Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder in Defense Position.
Lilly started with Aleister, adding Invocation to his hand. That triggered the effects of Fenrir and Unicorn – Sacchetti banished Zeus from the Extra Deck and Aleister from the field. Lilly Special Summoned Vala, Seidhr of the Generaider Bosses by diacarding Loptr, and Vala Special Summoned Loptr back from the Graveyard. Sacchetti activated Zeus, and Lilly Chained Loptr’s effect to Special Summon Hela, Generaider Boss of Doom. Zeus wiped the field, and Lilly knew he wasn’t surviving the next turn – he conceded this Duel.
Duel 2
Lilly started first in the next Duel. In the Draw Phase, Sacchetti had Dimension Shifter once again! “Not like this!” Lilly cried. He played Terraforming to get Generaider Boss Stage. He played Boss Stage and Set one back row card.
Sacchetti drew a card and triggered Boss Stage. Lilly Special Summoned Loptr and 4 Generaider Tokens. Then, he flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance! Sacchetti Special Summoned Fenrir, and Lilly used Loptr to Tribute a token and Special Summon Harr, Generaider Boss of Storms. Sacchetti did not use Fenrir’s effect. He Special Summoned Riseheart from his hand. He activated Riseheart, banishing Unicorn from his Deck as the cost to make Riseheart Level 7. He stacked Fenrir and Riseheart for Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation once more, sending it to destroy Loptr in battle. In Main Phase 2 he Xyz Summoned Zeus in Defense Position. He ended his turn, and Lilly’s tokens disappeared, leaving him unable to activate Harr.
Lilly Normal Summoned Aleister to add Invocation to his hand. He used Aleister with the Revolution Synchron in his hand to Synchro Summon Ancient Fairy Dragon in Defense Position. He Special Summoned Revolution Synchron from the Graveyard, sending another Aleister off the top of his Deck, and finally Sacchetti activated Zeus to wipe the field. Now that his own Anti-Spell Fragrance was gone, Lilly could activate Invocation, fusing Aleister with Ancient Fairy Dragon for Invoked Mechaba. Then he used Invocation’s effect in the Graveyard, putting it back in the Deck and returning Aleister to his hand. He moved to the Battle Phase, using Aleister’s in-hand effect to increase Mechaba’s ATK and destroy Zeus in battle. Lilly Set one back row card.
Sacchetti played Harpie’s Feather Duster, and Lilly flipped Dimensional Barrier for Xyz Monsters. Sacchetti then played Book of Moon to flip Mechaba face-down! He used Kashtira Birth to Special Summon Fenrir. He activated Fenrir, and Lilly had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it. Sacchetti simply played Triple Tactics Thrust, getting Terraforming. He used that to get Pressured Planet Wraitsoth, adding Unicorn to his hand. He Normal Summoned that, which added Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He played that to Special Summon Scareclaw Kashtira. Fenrir destroyed Mechaba in battle. Unicorn attacked directly, banishing Lilly’s second Mechaba from the Extra Deck. Scareclaw Kashtira attacked directly.
Lilly had no cards left. He drew… Magical Meltdown. That would be no help in the face of Sacchetti’s Kashtira!
Leonardo Sacchetti is moving on to the Top 8 with Kashtira!
