Welcome to YCS Orlando!

February 1st, 2025

The first YCS of 2025 is about to begin! A whopping 2,223 Duelists have gathered at the Orange County Convention Center in Orland, Florida to compete for the honor of winning the first YCS trophy of 2025!

Crossover Breakers drastically impacted the Advanced Format upon its release in December, introducing the tournament-popular Ryzeal and Maliss cards into the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME. While many Duelists expect Ryzeal and Maliss cards to continue dominating competitive Dueling, the release of the new Supreme Darkness booster set only a week ago is certain to alter the landscape of the Advanced Format. New cards for HERO, Crystron, Speedroid, White Forest, Gladiator Beast, and even more themes could help to boost the standing of the Decks that use them. Plus, brand-new themes and tech cards are likely to have a major impact this weekend.

The Mitsurugi cards, for example, are a powerful new theme built around Reptile monsters that focus on Ritual Summoning. Most of the Mitsurugi monsters have powerful effects that activate if they’re Summoned or Tributed, and many Duelists are hoping to use them to secure victory this weekend. Some Duelists are even using the Mitsurugi cards with Ryzeal cards, replacing the also-popular combination of Fiendsmith with Ryzeal cards.

Several other cards are also expected to have a major impact this weekend. Eclipse Twins gives a boost to Ryzeal strategies, while Mulcharmy Meowls is being used to help keep Maliss Decks in check. A Bao A Qu, the Lightless Shadow is a powerful Link Monster that will likely find a place in some Duelists’ Extra Decks as well.

The Duelists are shuffling up, and the first round of YCS Orlando is about to begin! It’s almost time to Duel!
