Welcome to TEAM YCS Las Vegas 2025!

March 15th, 2025

472 teams of 3 Duelists each have gathered here this weekend at the Las Vegas Convention Center to compete for the honor of becoming a TEAM YCS Champion! A TEAM YCS gives Duelists the opportunity to not only travel alongside their friends to compete in a YCS event, but also Duel alongside them. At a TEAM YCS, each player on one team will Duel against one player on the opposing team in a best-of-three Match. Whichever team secures two Match victories will win the Round, securing the victory for the entire team. Players are permitted to communicate with one another during the Match, sharing their strategies and tactics – so teamwork will play a crucial role in the winning team’s success this weekend.

Ryzeal and Maliss strategies have become the top ones to beat in recent YCS events, and Duelists expect them to continue dominating this weekend. The Fiendsmith cards have also proven to be a formidable engine of cards in recent events, and many Duelists are using them in their Decks – but Duelists aren’t counting other strategies out. At the most recent YCS event – TEAM YCS San Salvador – two of the winning team members used a Mermail Deck, which has proven it has the power to compete with other top Decks.

Yesterday’s release of the Maze of the Master booster set will also affect this weekend’s tournament. The new cards inspired by those used by Odion from the original animated Yu-Gi-Oh! series are a boon for Decks built around Trap Cards, while the new Tachyon cards bring Decks built around Mizar’s signature Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon and related cards to new competitive heights. Finally, the Seventh Tachyon Spell Card has lots of Duelists excited this weekend, and they’re fitting it into many different Decks! Seventh Tachyon lets a Duelist reveal a “Number” Xyz Monster in the Extra Deck with a number between “101” and “107” in its name and then add a monster from the Deck to the hand with the same Level as that monster’s Rank, as well as the same Type or Attribute as that monster. You can use this effect to add important cards like Artifact Lancea or any of the Ryzeal monsters from your Deck to your hand. You’ll have to return a card from your hand to the top of your Deck after getting the card you want and then won’t be able to Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn, except for Xyz Monsters – but for many Decks, the drawback is worth it.

Duelists are getting seated with their teammates as the first Swiss Round of TEAM YCS Las Vegas is about to begin! It’s almost time to Duel!
