We’re almost there! It’s the final Swiss Round here at the North America WCQ, and the Duelists are excited to find out their final standings. For this Feature Match, we have Michael Kyle Walters playing the Light and Darkness Ritual Deck, facing off against Brayden Michael Davis and his Kewl Tune Deck. These Duelists have 11-3 records, so they’re each hoping to earn prizing if they place in the Top 32! It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Walters won the die roll and chose to go first! He opened with Light and Darkness Ritual, Ragged Records of Rites, Super Polymerization, and two copies of The Fallen & The Virtuous. He activated Ragged Records of Rites, searching for Griffoh, then activated Griffoh’s effect, discarding it to Set Mind Shuffle to his backrow. He activated Mind Shuffle, then searched for and discarded Skull Archfiend of Chaos. This allowed him to send Light and Darkness Ritual from his Deck to the Graveyard to search for the Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos! He added both Light and Darkness Ritual and Skull Archfiend back to hand, then activated Light and Darkness Ritual, banishing Griffoh from his Graveyard to Special Summon Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos and add Light and Darkness Ritual back to his hand. Finally, he Set four cards to his backrow and ended his turn. 

During Davis’ Draw Phase, Walters activated the effect of Mind Shuffle, searching for Black Chaos and discarding Skull Archfiend of Chaos. He then used the Archfiend’s effect to send Light and Darkness Ritual from his hand to the Graveyard to search for Black Luster Soldier – Soldier of Light and Darkness! Davis entered the Main Phase and activated the effect of Kewl Tune Rotary, revealing Kewl Tune Cue. He Normal Summoned the Cue and activated its effect to Special Summon Kewl Tune Mix and search for Kewl Tune Reco! Here, Davis used Mix and Reco to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune RS, using Mix and Reco to try and destroy Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos and a card in Walters’ backrow. In response, Walters Chained Super Polymerization, using Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos and Kewl Tune RS to Fusion Summon Mixousia the Confounder! Davis resolved the effect of Kewl Tune Reco to destroy Walters’ face-down The Fallen & The Virtuous. 

Davis followed up by using Cue and Rotary to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Track Maker! He used Cue’s effect to banish Fallen of the White Dragon and return Skull Archfiend of Chaos to the top of Walters’ Deck, then looked at Walters’ hand and searched for both Kewl Tune Reco and Kewl Tune Synchro. He used Track Maker and Reco to Synchro Summon Zalen the Shackled Dragon! He then used the effect of Track Maker to return Mixousia the Confounder to Walters’ hand; Walters Chained Mixousa’s effect, but Davis activated the effect of Zalen as Chain Link 3 to negate Mixousa’s effect! Davis then activated Duelist Genesis, searching for Synchro Overtake, and activated it to Special Summon another copy of Kewl Tune Reco! He Normal Summoned Reco and used its effect to search for Kewl Tune Mix, then used Reco and Zalen to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune B2B! He activated JJ “Kewl Tune”, and used his additional Normal Summon to bring out Mix. He attacked directly with each Mix and B2B twice, then activated Kewl Tune Synchro, searching for Kewl Tune Cue and Synchro Summoning Kewl Tune Remix. He attacked directly with Remix to wipe out the rest of Walters’ Life Points!

Duel 2

Walters chose to go first once again, this time opening with Black Chaos, Skull Archfiend of Chaos, Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous, The Fallen & The Virtuous, and Droll & Lock Bird. He Normal Summoned Ecclesia, then used its effect to bring out Fallen of the White Dragon! He activated its effect, and Davis Chained the effect of Fydraulis Harmonia, allowing him to destroy White Dragon and send Wind Pegasus @Ignister to the Graveyard as Walters brought back Ecclesia from the Graveyard. Next, Walters activated the effect of Black Chaos, placing Mind Shuffle to his backrow face-up, then Special Summoned Skull Archfiend of Chaos from hand by returning three cards from the Graveyards to the Deck. He then used Archfiend and Ecclesia to Synchro Summon Chaos Angel! He banished Davis’ Harmonia, then used Archfiend’s effect to send Light and Darkness Ritual to the Graveyard and search for Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos. He activated the effect of Mind Shuffle, searching for Black Chaos and discarding it. He added both Light and Darkness Ritual and Black Chaos to hand, then activated Light and Darkness Ritual, Tributing Black Chaos from his hand to bring out the Magician of Dark Chaos! Finally, he Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

During the Draw Phase, Walters activated the effect of Mind Shuffle, but Davis Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Davis then Normal Summoned Kewl Tune Reco and searched for Kewl Tune Rotary, and on resolution, Walters activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Davis used Reco and Rotary to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Track Maker, then used Rotary’s effect to return Light and Darkness Ritual from the Graveyard to Walters’ Deck. He used Track Maker and Kewl Tune Reco to Synchro Summon Zalen the Shackled Dragon, then activated the effects of Track Maker and Reco to return one of Walters’ face-down cards to the hand and destroy Mind Shuffle, respectively. Walters Chained The Fallen & The Virtuous as Chain Link 3, but Davis activated the effect of Zalen the Shackled Dragon as Chain Link 4!

Davis then activated Synchro Overtake! He Special Summoned Kewl Tune Mix and added Kewl Tune Reco back to hand, then Normal Summoned Reco. He used Reco and Mix to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Remix, then activated the effect of Mix to destroy Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos. Finally, he Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. During the End Phase, Walters used the effect of Albion the Branded Dragon to Set another copy of The Fallen & The Virtuous to his backrow. 

Walters drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for turn! He switched Chaos Angel to Attack Position, then entered the Battle Phase, using Chaos Angel to attack and destroy Zalen the Shackled Dragon. He then Special Summoned Skull Archfiend of Chaos from the Graveyard, returning Albion, Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos, and Davis’ Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to the Deck; here, Davis Chained the effect of Remix, Special Summoning Kewl Tune Reco from the Graveyard and adding Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to hand! In the following Chain, Davis used the effect of Reco to search for Kewl Tune Clip. Walters next activated The Fallen & The Virtuous, Special Summoning Kewl Tune Mix from Davis’ Graveyard! Davis activated the effect of clip, Special Summoning Clip, then using Clip and Reco to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune RS. Finally, he Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Davis started by activating Mind Shuffle in the Standby Phase, searching for and discarding Skull Archfiend of Chaos. He then used its effect to send Light and Darkness Ritual to the Graveyard and search for Black Luster Soldier – Soldier of Light and Darkness! Davis Normal Summoned Kewl Tune Cue, but Walters Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. To follow up, Davis activated Duelist Genesis and searched for Kewl Tune Synchro, then activated it to search for Kewl Tune Rotary and Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Track Maker! He banished Black Chaos from the top of Walters’ Deck, looked at Walters’ hand, then searched for JJ “Kewl Tune” and Kewl Tune Reco. Davis then activated JJ and Normal Summoned Reco to search for Kewl Tune Mix. He used Track Maker and Mix to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Loudness War, using Mix’s effect to destroy the Archfiend and Track Maker’s effect to return the Mix on Walters’ field to his own hand! He then used Reco and Mix to Synchro Summon a second copy of Kewl Tune RS, and used Reco’s effect to destroy Mind Shuffle. He now had two copies of Kewl Tune RS on the field, each with 6200 ATK! He used each RS to attack Chaos Angel, then ended his turn. 

Walters drew Celtic Mystic for turn! He started his turn by Special Summoning Skull Archfiend of Chaos from the Graveyard, and Davis Chained the effect of Kewl Tune Loudness War, banishing Rotary from his Graveyard to return the Archfiend to the bottom of Walters’ Deck. He added Light and Darkness Ritual and Black Chaos to hand, then Special Summoned Black Chaos by returning the Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos from his hand to the Deck. He activated the effect of Black Chaos, and Davis Chained the effect of RS to negate Black Chaos’ effect, since Walters did not have a copy of Light and Darkness Ritual in his Graveyard. Finally, Walters Normal Summoned Celtic Mystic and activated its effect, but Davis Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Walters then conceded.
