In our Round 4 Feature Match, we have two different strategies that each use Medius the Pure. Jesse Calvin Boyer is playing the DoomZ Deck, one that aims to bring out powerful Xyz Monsters. Meanwhile, Rayman Chen is playing the Elfnote Deck, a Synchro-based strategy that he has chosen to combine with the new Angelechy monsters from Chaos Origins. These Duelists each have a perfect 3-0 so far, but only one will remain undefeated after this. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Boyer won the die roll and chose to go first! He started by Normal Summoning DoomZ VII Seven – Elara, then activated the effect of DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea, destroying Elara and equipping Drastea with DoomZ Command “D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G”. He then used Elara’s effect to Set DoomZ Raiders to his backrow. Next, he activated DoomZ Change, and Chained the effects of Drastea! He Special Summoned DoomZ XII End – Drastrius, destroyed Change from his side of the field, and destroyed DoomZ Destruction from his Deck, then in the following Chain, added Destruction back to hand and equipped Drastrius with Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron from his Deck. Next, he activated Raiders, then used its effect to destroy Jupredo and Special Summon DoomZ V Five – Amalthe from the Deck! He used Jupredo and Amalthe’s effects to search for Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus and another copy of Jupredo. 

Boyer then activated Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus, sending Jupredo from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard to search for Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity. He activated Vidolium in the Pendulum Scale, then used its effect to Special Summon back Jupredo! He activated Vidolium’s other effect to search for Plundered Power Patron Plane – Vidolia, then activated Vidolia and Special Summoned Power Patron DoomZ from his Deck. He activated the effect of Power Patron DoomZ, using Jupredo to Xyz Summon Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction, then activated Jupiter’s effect to Special Summon back Jupredo from the Graveyard and destroy the Power Patron DoomZ. He used the effect of the destroyed Power Patron DoomZ to search for DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.”, then activated Jupredo’s effect, banishing the top three cards from his Deck to Special Summon a second copy of Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction! He attached DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” from his hand to the second Jupiter as Xyz Material, then used its effect to Special Summon DoomZ VII Seven – Elara from the Graveyard. He used Elara and Amalthe to Xyz Summon Springans Merrymaker, brought out Gigantic “Champion” Sargas, then used its effect to search for Therion “King” Regulus! He Special Summoned the Regulus and equipped it with Power Patron DoomZ, then used the two copies of Jupiter to Xyz Summon Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal! Finally, he Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Chen drew Angelechy Problem for turn! He started by Normal Summoning Medius the Pure and activating its effect. Boyer Chained the effect of Utopic Future Zexal, taking control of Medius as Chen Special Summoned Elfnote Power Patron from his Deck. Afterwards, Boyer activated the effect of Sargas to destroy the Elfnote Power Patron! Chen followed up by Special Summoning Elfnote Lucina. Here, Boyer activated the effect of Drastrius to destroy his own Raiders, then used Raiders’ effect to destroy Lucina. Chen activated Elfnotes: Welcome Home, then activated Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus, but Boyer Chained DoomZ Destruction! Chen sent Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron from his Deck to the Graveyard but was unable to search. Next, Chen activated the effect of Welcome Home, Tributing Witness of the Ancient from his hand, but Boyer Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Unable to break Boyer’s board, Chen conceded the first Duel.

Duel 2

Chen chose to go first in the second Duel! He opened with Elfnote Power Patron, Elfnote Lucina, Angelechy Opening to e4, and two copies of Elfnote Regina. He Special Summoned Elfnote Lucina, Normal Summoned Elfnote Power Patron, then activated the effect of Lucina to search for Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron. On resolution, Boyer activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Chen Chained the effect of Elfnote Power Patron, using the two monsters to Synchro Summon Elfnote June Pride. He then used Elfnote Power Patron’s effect to search for Elfnote Fortuna. Next, Chen activated Junoldo in the Pendulum Scale, then Special Summoned Regina by sending June Pride to the Graveyard. Chen then activated the effect of Junoldo, destroying it, and allowing him to draw two cards and discard one. He used added Elfnote Power Patron back to hand, then Special Summoned Elfnote Fortuna and placed Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness to his backrow. He then activated the effect of Rhapsodia, sending the second copy of Regina from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon back Elfnote Power Patron. He used Elfnote Power Patron and Regina to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitiza, and added Regina back to hand. Finally, he activated the effect of Strelitzia, Special Summoning back Lucina from his Graveyard, then Set two cards to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Boyer began his turn by Normal Summoning Medius the Pure and activating its effect! Chen Chained the effect of Elfnote Lucina, but Boyer activated Super Polymerization as Chain Link three! Boyer used Chen’s Strelitzia and Lucina to Fusion Summon Mudragon of the Swamp, then resolved Medius’ effect to Special Summon Power Patron DoomZ from his Deck. Chen activated the effect of Regina in hand, sending Fortuna to the Graveyard, as Boyer activated the effect of Mudragon, changing its Attribute to DARK! Chen Chained Angelechy Opening to e4, allowing him to place Angelechy Problem to his side of the field, Special Summon Angelechy Destrier, and place Angelechy Bastion to his backrow. He used Bastion’s effect to place Angelechy Shatranga to his backrow, as well as Regina’s effect to Special Summon Elfnote Tinia, then used Shatranga’s effect to add Angelechy Opening to e4 from his Graveyard back to hand. Chen then activated the effect of Tinia, banishing Triple Tactics Thrust from Boyer’s hand. 

The final card in Boyer’s hand was Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron! He activated it in the Pendulum Scale, but when he activated its effect, Chen Chained the effect of Rhapsodia, Special Summoning June Pride from his Graveyard and negating the effect of Jupredo. Boyer then used Mudragon and Medius to Xyz Summon Doomz Break – Diactorus. When he activated its effect, Chen Chained the effect of June Pride, Special Summoning Fortuna and Lucina. Boyer resolved the effect of Diactorus, destroying his own Jupredo and Chen’s Fortuna, then activated Jupredo’s effect to search for Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus. Next, Boyer used Diactorus to Xyz Summon DoomZ XIII Over – Graflareio, and in response to the summon, Chen activated The Fallen & The Virtuous, sending Albion the Branded Dragon to the Graveyard to destroy Graflareio! Boyer wasn’t able to break through Chen’s board, as Shatranga restricted him to only activating five monster effects this turn, and conceded.

Duel 3

Chen opened the third Duel with Elfnote Tinia, Pot of Sloth, Angelechy Opening to e4, and two copies of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion.  

Boyer chose to go first in the final Duel! In the Standby Phase, Chen activated Angelechy Opening to e4, placing Angelechy Problem to his side of the field, Special Summoning Angelechy Destrier to his Extra Monster Zone, and placing Angelechy Bastion to his backrow. He used Bastion’s effect to place Angelechy Shatranga to his backrow and search for another copy of Opening. Boyer activated Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus, sending Power Patron DoomZ to the Graveyard and searching for Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity. He activated Vidolium in the Pendulum Scale and activated its effect, but Chen Chained the effect of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion! Next, Boyer activated DoomZ Raiders, then used its effect to destroy DoomZ Change in hand and Special Summon DoomZ VII Seven – Elara from Deck. He used Change’s effect to add Power Patron DoomZ back to hand, then Special Summoned it, and used Elara’s effect to Set another copy of DoomZ Change to his backrow. He activated the Power Patron DoomZ’s effect, using Elara to Xyz Summon Doomz Break – Diactorus and attach it with Power Patron DoomZ, then used Diactorus to Xyz Summon DoomZ XIII Over – Graflareio! Power Patron DoomZ was destroyed, allowing Boyer to search for Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron. He then activated Graflareio’s effect, searching for DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” and destroying Chen’s Bastion. Boyer activated Jupredo in his Pendulum Scale, then used its effect to destroy it, Graflareio, and Chen’s Shatranga, allowing him to search for DoomZ Destruction and Special Summon DoomZ V Five – Amalthe from the Deck to search for DoomZ XII Zero – Drastea. With Shatranga destroyed, Boyer is no longer limited activating only five monster effects this turn! 

Boyer Special Summoned Therion “King” Regulus from hand and equipped it with Power Patron DoomZ, then equipped DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” from his hand to Angelechy Destrier. He activated DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.”’s effect, destroying Destrier and Special Summoning back Elara from the Graveyard. He used Elara and Amalthe to Xyz Summon Springans Merrymaker, then used Merrymaker to Xyz Summon Gigantic “Champion” Sargas. He Special Summoned Drastea and equipped it with DoomZ Command “D.O.O.M.D.U.R.G”, used Drastea’s effect to destroy Vidolium, then used Vidolium’s effect to search for Plundered Power Patron Plane – Vidolia. He Special Summoned a copy of Jupredo the Shademachine Power Patron from the Deck, then used Jupredo’s effect to Special Summon Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction from the Extra Deck. Boyer Set a card to his backrow, then used Drastea’s effect to Special Summon DoomZ XII End – Drastrius. He equipped DoomZ Command “A.D.R.A.S.T.E.I.A.” from his Graveyard to Jupiter, then ended his turn. 

Chen began by activating the effect of Angelechy Problem, discarding Angelechy Opening to e4, but Boyer Chained the effect of Regulus, negating it. Chen then activated Pot of Sloth, drawing eight cards and returning seven to his Deck! Next, he activated Illusion Gate, destroying all of Boyer’s monsters, other than Drastrius, and Special Summoning Therion “King” Regulus from Boyer’s Graveyard! Here, Boyer activated the effect of Drastrius, but Chen Chained the effect of Regulus. Chen then Special Summoned Elfnote Tinia and activated its effect; Boyer Chained the effect of DoomZ XII End – Drastrius, and Boyer Chained the effect of Elfnote Regina, sending Tinia to the Graveyard. Boyer equipped Regina to Drastrius, and Chen realized he couldn’t push through Boyer’s board, and conceded. 

With that, Boyer maintains his undefeated record and improves to 4-0!
