We’re back with more Genesys action! From Barrie, Ontario, we have Hanko Chow playing Blitzclique. He’s facing Jacob Charland, from Sherbrooke, Quebec, playing Fire Kings, with both Jurrac and Tachyon additions. Both of these Decks want to destroy cards, including their own, so this will be a volatile matchup!

Duel 1

Charland won the dice roll and played first. Chow had a hand of Blitzclique Alternator, Seventh Tachyon, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Crackle Blitzclique, and Mulcharmy Fuwalos.

Charland began by playing Seventh Tachyon, revealing Number 105: Battlin’ Boxer Star Cestus to add Fire King Courtier Ulcanix to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and had it destroy Jurrac Megalo to add Legendary Fire King Ponix to his hand. He Special Summoned Ponix since Megalo had been destroyed, and Megalo sent Jurrac Astero to the Graveyard. Ponix put Fire King Sanctuary in his hand. He played it to place Fire King Island on the field. He used Island to destroy Ponix and add Sacred Fire King Garunix to his hand. He Special Summoned it and destroyed Fire King Avatar Arvata from his Deck.

Chow drew Mulcharmy Purulia, significantly late to the party. He activated Fuwalos’s effect to start the turn. In the Standby Phase, Charland returned Ponix to his hand. Chow led with Seventh Tachyon, revealing Number 106: Giant Hand to add Surge Blitzclique to his hand, and put Purulia back on top of his Deck. He Set Alternator, then Normal Summoned Crackle. He activated Surge’s effect, targeting Garunix to destroy it and Special Summon the Surge. Crackle’s effect sent another Alternator to the Graveyard. He used its effect, adding Hideout in the Sky, Coulomb to his hand. He played Coulomb, and used its effect to give Charland a Mech Beast Token and add Whisker Blitzclique to his hand. He activated its effect to Special Summon it and destroy Fire King Sanctuary. Surge’s effect put Grain Blitzclique in his hand.

At this point, Charland activated Astero’s effect in the Graveyard. Chow responded with Whisker, returning Crackle to his hand to negate Astero. Charland now used Fire King High Avatar Kirin to destroy Ulcanix and Special Summon the Kirin. Then he Special Summoned Sacred Fire King Garunix, which destroyed another Kirin from his Deck. He activated the destroyed Kirin’s effect, then Chained Ponix from his hand. He Special Summoned Ponix, then Special Summoned Arvata and destroyed Whisker. Ponix’s effect put Fire King Sky Burn in Charland’s hand. Chow now used Grain’s effect to try and destroy Fire King Island, and it was negated by Arvata, destroying Garunix. Chow moved to the Battle Phase and sent Surge to destroy the Mech Beast Token, thanks to the ATK boost from Coulomb.

Charland began by activating Fire King Island’s effect. Chow responded with Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy it, Charland activated Arvata, and Chow activated Crackle’s effect in his hand, which let him destroy Arvata and Special Summon Grain. Arvata’s effect then negated Ghost Ogre and destroyed Ponix. Island destroyed a Megalo in the hand to get Fire King Avatar Rangbali in hand. In a huge new Chain, Grain and Surge put Blitzclique – Breakaway and Whisker in Chow’s hand. Arvata revived Kirin, and Garunix came back to the field. Finally, Megalo sent Astero to the Graveyard. In a new Chain, Garunix activated. Chow responded with Whisker to Special Summon the Whisker and Crackle in his hand, then destroy Island and Garunix. Garunix’s effect resolved, destroying Fire King High Avatar Garunix from his Deck. Island now destroyed all of Charland’s monsters, and Chow used Crackle to send Blitzclique – Steppleader to the Graveyard. Charland’s destroyed Kirin activated, and he Chained the Rangbali in his hand. Chow responded with Whisker to return Surge to his hand, then Chained Alternator to return Whisker to the Deck. Chow’s effects resolved, adding Emi Blitzclique to his hand, then negating Rangbali and destroying it. Kirin Special Summoned Ponix. Ponix’s effect activated, and Chow Chained Emi’s effect in the hand. Charland responded with Sky Burn to destroy Ponix and Coulomb, then used D.D. Crow to banish Steppleader. Emi couldn’t destroy anything now, and failed to do anything. Ponix’s effect resolved and put Sanctuary in Charland’s hand. He played Sanctuary to get Island on the field, and passed with no other cards on the field or in the hand.

Chow drew Lava Golem. In the Standby Phase, Charland returned Ponix to his hand. Then, he activated Fire King High Avatar Garunix’s effect. Chow responded with Breakaway to put Blitzclique Return Stroke on the field and protect his monsters from Garunix! Chow used Surge to destroy Crackle and Special Summon Surge. He returned Coulomb and Breakaway to his hand, and used Grain to get another Coulomb. He used Alternator, putting Breakaway back in his Deck to add Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju to his hand! Charland now used Astero’s effect to bring forth Jurrac Meteor! It destroyed everything, but Chow’s monsters survived thanks to Return Stroke. Fire King Island destroyed Meteor in turn, and Charland Special Summoned Sacred Fire King Garunix. It destroyed Kirin from his Deck, which let him Special Summon Arvata and destroy Surge. Chow now Tributed Charland’s monsters to give away Lava Golem, then played Coulomb to give a Mech Beast Token and put Whisker in his hand. Whisker let him Special Summon everything from his hand, and clear Charland’s field. He sent everything to attack directly and end the first Duel!

Duel 2

Chow opened this time with Whisker, Return Stroke, Steppleader, Breakaway, and Alternator.

Charland led with Sanctuary to get Island. He used Island to destroy Arvata and add Sacred Fire King Garunix to his hand. He Special Summoned Garunix, destroying Ulcanix from his Deck. That let him Special Summon Fire King High Avatar Garunix, and he used both monsters to Xyz Summon Divine Golden Shadow Dragon Dragluxion. It put Seventh Tachyon in his hand, and he played Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Primal, adding Tachyon Transmigration to his hand. He used Dragluxion’s effect to bring Hieratic Sky Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis to the field with Number 10: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon attached. He Set two back row cards.

Chow drew Coulomb. He played it, and used its effect to give away a Mech Beast Token and add Surge to his hand. He played Breakaway to place Alternator on the field. He played Steppleader, using it to Special Summon Surge and destroy Steppleader. He activated Surge and Breakaway’s effects, and Charland flipped up Transmigration to negate them and return both to the Deck. Chow used Alternator to return his other Alternator to the Deck and put Grain in his hand. He used Whisker’s effect to Special Summon both Whisker and Grain, destroying Island and Heliopolis. Island destroyed all of Charland’s monsters. He returned Steppleader to his hand and activated it, then Set his other Trap Cards. He attacked with everything to drop Charland to 2800 Life Points.

Charland played Seventh Tachyon, and Chow responded with Return Stroke to bounce Whisker and negate Seventh Tachyon. Charland Chained the effect of Fire King High Avatar Kirin, destroying Sacred Fire King Garunix from his hand to Special Summon the Kirin. The other Garunix in Charland’s Graveyard activated, and Chow responded with Whisker to destroy Sanctuary. Grain put Breakaway in his hand. Garunix hit Charland’s field, and Whisker negated it. Kirin attacked Whisker, and Chow used Alternator to return Whisker to the Deck and add Surge to his hand. Kirin attacked directly instead.

Chow drew Cosmic Cyclone. He used Alternator to swap Grain for Thunder King, and Tributed Kirin to give away the Kaiju. Then he used Coulomb to give a Mech Beast Token and add Grain to his hand. He used Whisker to Special Summon Grain and Whisker, destroying both gifted monsters, and attacked to end the Match!
