We’re here with Florida Duelist Kenny Diaz, playing White Forest Crystal Beasts! He’s up against Ohio Duelist Zackoriah Louis, with Regenesis Voiceless Voice! Both Duelists have great records with just one loss, so they’re on track for a strong finish here at Day 1 of the Genesys Championship.

Duel 1

Louis won the dice roll and played first. Diaz opened with a hand of Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger, Curse of Diabell, Forbidden Droplet, Rainbow Dragon, and Crystal Bond.

Louis revealed Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice to Special Summon Regenesis Archfiend, and added Regenesis Code to his hand. He played that to Special Summon Regenesis Sage. He activated Saffira’s effect to send Prayers of the Voiceless Voice to the Graveyard to add Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice to his hand. He used Saffira’s effect in the Graveyard, Tributing Kumongous, the Sticky String Kaiju to Ritual Summon Skull Guardian. He used its effect to add Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice to his hand. He Normal Summoned Lo, using its effect to put Barrier of the Voiceless Voice on the field. He used Barrier to add Radiance of the Voiceless Voice to his hand. He played Blessing of the Voiceless Voice, using it to get Prayers in his hand. He played that, Tributing Lo to Ritual Summon Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended. Lo returned to the field, and he Set Radiance.

Diaz drew Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon, and Louis flipped up Radiance. Diaz played Crystal Bond to add Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus in his hand, and placed Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon as a Continuous Spell. Louis used Radiance, targeting Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon, destroying both cards. Diaz Normal Summoned Sapphire Pegasus, and Louis used Sage, sending Archfiend to the Graveyard. Diaz responded with Forbidden Droplet, sending everything but Rainbow Dragon to the Graveyard to negate Louis’s monsters! Sapphire Pegasus put Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle on the field. Then, Curse of Diabell added Filia Diabell to his hand. He played that, adding Diabellze the White Witch to his hand. He Special Summoned it by sending Ruby Carbuncle to the Graveyard. Diabellze then sent Diabellstar Vengeance to the Graveyard. He banished Curse and Filia to Special Summon Diabellstar Vengeance, and used Vengeance to pay half his Life Points to destroy Barrier and Special Summon Poplar of the White Forest. He tuned Poplar to Diabellze for Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon. Louis activated Sauravis’s effect, returning it to the hand for its cost, even though it would be negated due to Droplet. Diaz used Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon’s effect to put Skull Guardian in the back row. He moved to the Battle Phase, and used Vengeance Dragon’s effect to destroy both Lo and Blessing, but Louis negated it by discarding Sauravis. Vengeance Dragon attacked and destroyed Lo. In the End Phase, Regenesis Archfiend returned to Louis’s hand.

Louis tried using Blessing to get Saffira, and Diaz paid half his Life Points for Diabellstar Vengeance to destroy Blessing. Louis negated and destroyed that with Sage, so Saffira wound up back in his hand. He used it to send Prayers to the Graveyard and add a new Skull Guardian to his hand. He used Saffira’s Graveyard effect, Tributing Regenesis Sage to Ritual Summon Skull Guardian. Skull Guardian let him add Lo to his hand. He Normal Summoned Lo and moved to the Battle Phase, sending Skull Guardian to attack Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon.

Diaz drew Rainbow Bridge of Salvation. He sent Sapphire Pegasus to destroy Lo in battle, then Set the Bridge. In Main Phase 2, he banished Forbidden Droplet and Rainbow Bridge to Special Summon Diabellstar Vengeance. He moved to the End Phase, paying half his Life Points again to destroy Blessing. He passed with just 450 Life Points.

Louis went to the Battle Phase, with Skull Guardian attacking Sapphire Pegasus. Diaz used Vengeance to pay half his Life Points and destroy Skull Guardian. Louis then played Dark Spirit’s Mastery, discarding Regenesis Warrior to add Lava Golem to his hand! He Tributed Diaz’s monsters and put a ticking time bomb on his field!

Diaz drew Sapphire Pegasus. With no way to remove the Lava Golem, he never got past his Standby Phase!

Duel 2

Diaz began the second Duel with Forbidden Droplet, Sapphire Pegasus, Curse of Diabell, Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle, and Vaylantz World – Konig Wissen.

He played Konig Wissen, which put Vaylantz World – Shinra Bansho on Louis’s field. He Normal Summoned Sapphire Pegasus, which placed another Pegasus as a Continuous Spell. He then used Louis’s Shinra Bansho to Special Summon the new Sapphire Pegasus, which put Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon on the field. He banished it to Special Summon Topaz Tiger and add Rainbow Dragon to his hand. He stacked both Sapphires to Xyz Summon Dugares, drawing Rainbow Bridge of the Heart and Awakening of the Crystal Ultimates discarding Curse of Diabell. The Curse put Filia Diabell in his hand, and he played that to add Diabellze the White Witch to his hand. He played Rainbow Bridge of the Heart, then played Awakening to Special Summon Sapphire Pegasus from his Graveyard. Sapphire Pegasus put Ruby Carbuncle in his back row. He used Rainbow Bridge of the Heart, destroying Ruby Carbuncle to add Golden Rule to his hand. He stacked Sapphire and Topaz for Daigusto Emeral, then played Golden Rule. He Special Summoned Ruby Carbuncle and put both Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth and Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat in his back row. Ruby Carbuncle’s effect let him Special Summon Amber and Amethyst. He used Daigusto Emeral and Dugares for Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal. Rainbow Bridge of the Heart let him Normal Summon Cobalt Eagle, and he stacked it with Amber Mammoth for Number 106: Giant Hand. He Special Summoned Diabellze by sending Golden Rule to the Graveyard, which destroyed Ruby Carbuncle, and he put Ruby in his back row. Diabellze sent Diabellstar Vengeance to the Graveyard, and he Special Summoned it from the Graveyard by banishing his other Diabell cards. He Set Forbidden Droplet to finish the turn.

Louis started with Regenesis Code to Special Summon Regenesis Warrior in the same column as Utopic Future Zexal and Ruby Carbuncle. He used the effect of Diaz’s Konig Wissen to put Utopic Future Zexal in the back row, destroying Ruby Carbuncle. Next, he used Regenesis Warrior’s effect to return Giant Hand to the Extra Deck. He used Royal Archfiend to add Regenesis Archfiend to his hand. He revealed the Regenesis Sage in his hand to Special Summon Regenesis Archfiend, which put Regenesis Lord in his hand. Diaz paid half his Life Points for Diabellstar Vengeance to destroy Regenesis Archfiend, and he Special Summoned Poplar of the White Forest. Louis Special Summoned Sage, then played Barrier of the Voiceless Voice. Diaz responded with Poplar’s effect, and Louis sent Lord to the Graveyard for Sage to try and negate Poplar. Diaz Chained Forbidden Droplet, sending Konig Wissen to the Graveyard to negate Sage. Poplar resolved, tuning to Diabellze for Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon. Louis used Barrier to add Saffira to his hand, and discarded it to send Prayers to the Graveyard and add Skull Guardian to his hand. Diaz Chained Vengeance Dragon to put Saffira in the back row before its Graveyard effect could be activated. Louis Normal Summoned Lo, which put Blessing on the field. He used Blessing to put Prayers in his hand, and played that to Ritual Summon Skull Guardian. Skull Guardian’s effect added Sauravis to his hand, and he Special Summoned Lo from the Graveyard with its own effect. Louis sent Sage to attack Diabellstar Vengeance, forgetting that Droplet had halved its ATK! He winced a little as he lost that battle, but didn’t let it stop him – Skull Guardian wiped out Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon.

Diaz skipped his Draw Phase due to Dugares. He activated Diabellstar Vengeance’s effect, trying to destroy Barrier, and it was instead negated and destroyed by Skull Guardian. Diaz then used Rainbow Bridge of the Heart, destroying Amethyst Cat (which went to his back row) to add Crystal Bond to his hand. He activated it to add Ruby Carbuncle to his hand and put Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon in his back row. He sent Amethyst Cat and Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Doomed Dragon, but was unable to target Louis’s monsters due to Barrier. Louis used Blessing to Tribute Lo and put Sauravis on the field. Lo returned to the field, and placed Radiance face-up. Diaz Special Summoned Rainbow Dragon, but before he could activate its effect, Louis used Sauravis to banish it! Diaz offered the handshake!
