Julien Kehon from Fremont, California is the 2025 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Champion and is a 2-time YCS champion. Now, he’s one Match away from adding a third YCS trophy to his list of accomplishments. Kehon is facing off against Francisco Osorio from Santiago, Chile in the final Match of the tournament. Osorio came in first place at the end of the Swiss Rounds, earning himself an oversized Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning, regardless of the outcome of this Match. He’s looking to collect an Ultra Rare Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning along with it by triumphing in this final round. Osorio has made it to the Finals of a YCS tournament three times in the past, but hasn’t yet achieved first place. He’s hoping to finally reach that goal this weekend. Kehon is using a Kewl Tune Deck and Osorio is using an Elfnote Deck. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Kehon opened up Duel 1 with Kewl Tune Reco, Kewl Tune Mix, Duelist Genesis, and 2 copies of Effect Veiler.

Kehon Normal Summoned Kewl Tune Reco in his Main Phase and activated its effect, but lost out to the effect of Osario’s Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. Next, Kehon activated Duelist Genesis to add Kewl Tune Synchro from his Deck to his hand. He activated it to add Kewl Tune Rotary from his Deck to his hand. Next, Kehon Tuned the Reco on his field with the Rotary in his hand to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Track Maker. He activated the effects of Rotary and Track Maker as Chain Links 1 and 2 respectively. Osorio Chained the effect of the Bystial Magnamhut in his hand, targeting the Rotary in Kehon’s Graveyard. Osorio banished the Rotary from the Duel and Special Summoned Magnamhut, then Kehon added Kewl Tune Cue from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Track Maker. He looked at Osorio’s hand of Medius the Pure, Elfnote Power Patron, and The Fallen & The Virtuous before adding JJ “Kewl Tune” from his Deck to his hand with Rotary’s effect. Osorio activated Magnamhut’s effect on the field. Next, Kehon activated JJ and used it to Normal Summon Cue. He activated Cue’s effect to Special Summon Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from his Deck and then used JJ’s effect to Tribute Ash Blossom and Special Summon Kewl Tune Mix from his Deck. He used Mix’s effect to return Reco from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he Tuned Mix with Cue to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Remix and used the effects of Mix and Cue. He looked at Elfnote Fortuna and Purulia on the top of Osorio’s Deck, banished the Fortuna, and returned Purulia to the top of the Deck with Cue’s effect, then destroyed Magnamhut with Mix’s effect. Next, Kehon Tuned Track Maker with the Reco in his hand to Synchro Summon Zalen the Shackled Dragon. In the End Phase, Osorio added Fydraulis Harmonia from his Deck to his hand with Magnamhut’s effect.

Osorio drew a card and then Normal Summoned Medius the Pure. Kehon Chained Effect Veiler’s effect to try to negate it, and when Osorio Chained The Fallen & The Virtuous to try to destroy his own Medius so that its effect could resolve, Kehon Chained another Effect Veiler’s effect to make sure Medius’s effect would be negated! Osorio conceded immediately after his Medius’s effect was negated.

Duel Two

Osorio chose to go first in Duel 2 and Kehon activated the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia in his first Standby Phase; but Osorio negated it by activating the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Osorio Special Summoned Elfnote Fortuna to his field next, and used its effect to place Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness face-up in his Spell & Trap Card Zone. Next, Osorio Normal Summoned Elfnote Power Patron. He Tuned it with Fortuna to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitzia and activated his Power Patron’s effect, and Kehon negated the effect with his own Ash Blossom. Osorio activated the effect of Strelitzia and Chained the effect of Rhapsodia. He sent another Power Patron from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Fortuna from his Graveyard and he Special Summoned Power Patron from his Graveyard with Strelitzia’s effect. Next, Osorio activated his Power Patron’s effect to try to change Fortuna’s Level, and Kehon Chained Infinite Impermanence to negate the Power Patron’s effect. Osorio Tuned his Power Patron with Strelitzia next, Synchro Summoning Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon.

Kehon drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit and added it to his hand of PSY-Frame Driver and Kewl Tune Rotary. He Normal Summoned Kewl Tune Rotary and then Tuned it with the Ghost Ogre in his hand to Summon Kewl Tune Track Maker. He activated the effects of Track Maker as Chain Link 1 and Rotary as Chain Link 2. Osorio Chained his Rhapsodia and discarded a Ghost Belle to Special Summon Strelitzia and negate the Track Maker’s effect. With no cards left in Osorio’s hand, Rotary’s effect couldn’t resolve to get Kehon a card. Kehon conceded, pushing the Match to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Kehon opened up Duel 3 with Fydraulis Harmonia, Triple Tactics Talent, Kewl Tune Cue, Infinite Impermanence, and Pot of Prosperity.

He activated Pot of Prosperity by banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down. Osorio Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring’s effect to negate it! Next, Kehon activated Triple Tactics Talent! He looked at Osorio’s hand of Contact “C”, Medius the Pure, Fydraulis Harmonia, and Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. He returned Medius the Pure to the Deck with the effect of his Talent. Next, Kehon Normal Summoned Cue and activated its effect, prompting Osorio to Chain the effect of the Harmonia in his hand. He revealed the Harmonia along with 5 Synchro Monsters in his Extra Deck. He Special Summoned the Harmonia, sent Despian Luluwalilith from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard, and then destroyed Cue. Kehon resolved Cue’s effect to Special Summon Kewl Tune Mix from his Deck and activated its effect, prompting Osorio to activate the effect of Contact “C”. He Special Summoned the Contact “C” to Kehon’s field and then Kehon used his Mix’s effect to add Rotary to his hand. Kehon Set Infinite Impermanence and then activated the effect of Luluwalilith in the End Phase to Special Summon Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous. He used its effect to add The Fallen & The Virtuous from his Deck to his hand.

Osorio drew Pot of Sloth and activated it! He drew 3 cards and then returned 2 cards from his hand to the bottom of his Deck with its effect. He entered his Battle Phase and attacked Mix with Harmonia to destroy it. In Main Phase 2, he sent his Dogmatika Ecclesia and Harmonia to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Storm-Bane Dragon Destorbim in Defense Position. Osorio Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Kehon drew Kewl Tune Synchro and then entered his Main Phase. He Normal Summoned Rotary and Osorio activated the effect of the Contact “C” in his hand to Special Summon it to Kehon’s field. Kehon ended his turn with no further play. In the End Phase, Osorio flipped The Fallen & The Virtuous by sending Albion the Branded Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He destroyed Rotary with its effect. He then used Albion’s effect to add another copy of The Fallen & The Virtuous from his Deck to his hand.

Osorio drew a card and then Set a card to his back row.

Kehon drew Infinite Impermanence and then Tributed both copies of Contact “C” in his Main Phase to Tribute Summon Fydraulis Harmonia, finally getting the copies of Contact “C” off of his field! He ended his turn with no further play.

Osorio entered his Main Phase and then activated the effect of his Storm-Bane Dragon. He banished Albion from his Graveyard to banish Kehon’s face-down Infinite Impermanence from the Duel. Next, he Special Summoned Elfnote Lucina to the center Main Monster Zone. He activated its effect to add Elfnote Power Patron to his hand and then Normal Summoned it. He Tuned the Power Patron with Lucina to Synchro Summon Strelitzia. He activated the effect of the Power Patron and Chained Strelitzia’s effect to Special Summon the Power Patron. He added Elfnote Tinia to his hand with Power Patron’s effect. Next, he Tuned Power Patron with Strelitzia to Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon. He Special Summoned Tinia to his center Main Monster Zone next, and then used its effect to place Elfnotes: Welcome Home in his Spell & Trap Card Zone. He activated Welcome Home’s effect to send Tinia to the Graveyard and Special Summoned Elfnote Regina from his Deck in the center Main Monster Zone. He activated Regina’s effect to Special Summon Fortuna from his Deck and used Fortuna’s effect to place Rhapsodia face-up on his field. He switched Storm-Bane into Attack Position and then entered his Battle Phase. He attacked Harmonia with Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, and Kehon offered the handshake, realizing he was defeated.
