We’re down to the final four Duelists of the Advanced Format Main Event at YCS Montréal! Both Bradley Wayne McLean and Francisco Andres Osorio Bobadilla are piloting the Elfnote Deck, a strategy that can build powerful boards, but interrupt the opponent to stop them from setting up a board. The winner of this Feature Match will be moving on to the Finals of YCS Montréal!

Duel 1

Bobadilla won the die roll and chose to go first! He opened with Elfnote Regina, Elfnote Lucina, Elfnote Power Patron, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He started by Special Summoning Lucina and activating its effect to search for Elfnote Tinia, then Normal Summoning Elfnote Power Patron. Here, McLean activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos, but it was met by Bobadilla’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Afterward, McLean activated the effect of his own Elfnote Regina, sending Lucina from his hand to the Graveyard; he Special Summoned Regina from hand, as well as Elfnote Power Patron from the Deck, then used the Power Patron’s effect to increase its Level by three and use the two to Synchro Summon Elfnote June Pride! He added Regina back to hand and searched for Elfnote Tinia, then activated the effect of June Pride, returning it to the Extra Deck to bring out Lucina from the Graveyard, Tinia from hand, and Fortuna from the Deck. McLean activated the effect of Lucina; Bobadilla Chained the effect of Elfnote Power Patron, but McLean responded with the effect of Fydraulis Harmonia as Chain Link 3! He Special Summoned Harmonia, sent Wind Pegasus @Ignister to the Graveyard, and destroyed Elfnote Power Patron, then resolved the effect of Lucina, moving Lucina to the center Main Monster Zone. Afterwards, he activated the effect of Tinia, and Bobadilla Chained the effect of Regina, sending Lucina to the Graveyard! McLean resolved the effect of Tinia, moving it to the center Main Monster Zone and banishing Fuwalos from Bobadilla’s hand, as Bobadilla used the effect of Regina to bring out a second copy of Elfnote Power Patron. Bobadilla used Regina and Elfnote Power Patron to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitiza, then added Regina back to hand and searched for Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron! He followed up by activating the effect of Elfnote Seraphim Strelitiza, bringing back Elfnote Power Patron, then used the two monsters to Synchro Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon! 

From there, Bobadilla Special Summoned Elfnote Tinia and placed Elfnotes: Welcome Home to his backrow. He activated the effect of Welcome Home, sending Tinia to the Graveyard; McLean Chained the effect of Elfnote Fortuna, but Bobadilla activated Crystal Wing’s effect as Chain Link 3 to negate Fortuna’s effect and destroy it! Bobadilla resolved Welcome Home’s effect to bring out his own copy of Fortuna. On resolution, McLean banished the Wind Pegasus from his Graveyard to shuffle Bobadilla’s Fortuna back to the Deck! Finally, Bobadilla activated Junoldo in his Pendulum Scale, then ended his turn.

During McLean’s Standby Phase, Bobadilla activated the effect of Regina in hand, sending Welcome Home to the Graveyard. He destroyed Junoldo to draw two copies of Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity then discard one of them, then resolved Regina’s effect to Special Summon Elfnote Lucina from the Deck. McLean activated the effect of his own Tinia, placing Elfnotes: Welcome Home to the backrow, then used Lucina’s effect to search for another copy of Elfnote Tinia. He next activated the effect of Welcome Home, sending Tinia to the Graveyard to Special Summon Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron, then activated Junoldo’s effect, banishing the top 3 cards of his Deck and destroying Junoldo to bring out Junora the Power Patron of Tuning. McLean activated the effects of Junora and Junoldo, as Bobadilla activated the effects of Crystal Wing and Lucina. However, McLean activated the effect of Fydraulis Harmonia as Chain Link 5! Harmonia put a ton of pressure on Bobadilla’s board, and Bobadilla knew that he would not be able to maintain enough board presence to disrupt McLean, so he conceded.

Duel 2

Bobadilla chose to go first once again! He opened with Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron, Fydraulis Harmonia, Elfnote Tinia, Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness, and Droll & Lock Bird. He began by activating Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron in the Pendulum Scale, then Special Summoned Elfnote Tinia. This allowed him to destroy Junoldo, then draw 2 cards and discard 1. In the following Chain, he added the discarded Elfnote card back to hand, then used Tinia’s effect to place Elfnotes: Welcome Home to his backrow. Next, he Normal Summoned Elfnote Power Patron, then used it and Tinia to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitiza! Bobadilla activated the effect of Elfnote Power Patron, but McLean Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring; Bobadilla Chained Strelitizia’s effect as Chain Link 3 to try and Special Summon back the Power Patron, but McLean activated the effect of Fydraulis Harmonia as Chain Link 4! McLean Special Summoned Harmonia, sent Golden Cloud Beast – Malong to the Graveyard, and tried to destroy Strelitiza, but Strelitzia could not be destroyed due to the effect of Welcome Home. McLean used the effect of Malong to return Welcome Home to Bobadilla’s hand, then used his two monsters to Synchro Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon!

Bobadilla followed up by Special Summoning Elfnote Lucina, then using its effect to search for Elfnote Regina. He activated Welcome Home once again, then used its effect to send Lucina to the Graveyard and Special Summon Elfnote Fortuna! He used Fortuna’s effect to place Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness to his backrow face-up, then Special Summoned Regina by sending Elfnote Fortuna to the Graveyard. Bobadilla used Regina’s effect to bring out Elfnote Tinia, then activated the effect of Rhapsodia, sending Tinia to the Graveyard and bringing back Elfnote Power Patron. He used the Power Patron’s effect, using it and Regina to Synchro Summon Elfnote June Pride, then added the Regina back to hand! Finally, he activated June Pride’s effect, returning it to the Extra Deck to Special Summon Elfnote Power Patron from the Graveyard and Regina from Deck. He used the two to Synchro Summon F.A. Dawn Dragster, then ended his turn.

McLean began his turn by Special Summoning Elfnote Tinia. In response, Bobadilla activated the effect of Regina, sending Welcome Home to the Graveyard to Special Summon it and Elfnote Power Patron. He then used the Power Patron’s effect to use the two to Synchro Summon Elfnote June Pride, then added Regina back to hand and searched for Elfnote Lucina. Bobadilla followed up by activating the effect of June Pride once again, Special Summoning Elfnote Fortuna from the Graveyard, Tinia from the Deck, and Lucina from hand. He activated the effect of Tinia, moving it to the center Main Monster Zone and banishing Elfnote Power Patron from McLean’s hand. He then activated the effect of Lucina, returning Tinia to McLean’s hand. WIthout any more ways to play and still have to deal with Bobadilla’s Crystal Wing, McLean conceded. We’re moving on to game three!

Duel 3

Bobadilla opened with Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous, Elfnote Regina, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, and Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus.

McLean chose to go first in the final Duel! He started by activating Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus, sending Elfnote Power Patron to the Graveyard and searching for Medius the Pure. He then Normal Summoned Medius and activated its effect, to which Bobadilla Chained the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos! McLean searched for Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity, then activated it in the Pendulum Scale. However, when he activated its effect to try and Special Summon back Elfnote Power Patron, Bobadilla responded with the effect of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion! 

McLean then activated Elfnotes: Welcome Home and used its effect, sending Medius to the Graveyard to Special Summon Elfnote Lucina from the Deck. He used Lucina’s effect to search for Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron, then activated Junoldo in his other Pendulum Scale! He Pendulum Summoned Elfnote Tinia from hand, then used Junoldo’s effect to destroy Junoldo, draw 2 cards, and discard 1. In the following Chain, he used Junoldo’s effect to add Elfnote Power Patron from the Graveyard back to his hand. He activated Tinia’s effect, placing a second copy of Welcome Home to his backrow, then Special Summoned Elfnote Fortuna and placed Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness to his backrow! Finally, he Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn.

Bobadilla drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for turn! He started his turn by activating Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus, sending Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity from his Deck to the Graveyard to search for Medius the Pure. On resolution, McLean activated the effect of Tinia, moving it to the center Main Monster Zone to banish Dogmatika Ecclesia the Virtuous from Bobadilla’s hand. Bobadilla followed up by Normal Summoning Medius and using its effect to Special Summon Junoldo the Shadespirit Power Patron from the Deck. Bobadilla proceeded to the Battle Phase and attacked Tinia with Junoldo; McLean Chained the effect of Elfnote Fortuna, moving Fortuna to the center Main Monster Zone and returning his own Welcome Home to hand. Bobadilla instead used Junoldo to attack Fortuna, so Fortuna was banished face-down thanks to the effect of Terminus! In Main Phase 2, Bobadilla activated the effect of Junoldo, but McLean Chained the effect of Fydraulis Harmonia, Special Summoning it, sending Wind Pegasus @Ignister to the Graveyard, and destroying Junoldo. As a result, Junoldo could not bring out Junora; however, Bobadilla used Junoldo’s other effect to add Terminus back to hand. Bobadilla activated Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity in the Pendulum Scale, then activated its effect and destroyed it, allowing him to use its other effect to search for Elfnote Power Patron. He Special Summoned Elfnote Regina from hand by sending the Power Patron to the Graveyard, then activated Regina’s effect, Special Summoning Elfnote Lucina from the Deck; however, McLean Chained the effect of his own Lucina, moving it to the center Main Monster Zone to return Regina to Bobadilla’s hand. 

Afterwards, Bobadilla activated Lucina’s effect, searching for Elfnote Tinia, then Special Summoned Tinia and placed Elfnotes: Welcome Home to his backrow. Bobadilla activated the effect of Welcome Home, sending Medius the Pure from his field to the Graveyard to Special Summon Elfnote Power Patron, then used it and Tinia to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitiza! This allowed him to search for Elfnote Fortuna. He Special Summoned Fortuna and placed Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness to his backrow. Next, he used Strelitzia’s effect to bring back Elfnote Power Patron, then activated the Power Patron’s effect, using it, Fortuna, and Lucina to Synchro Summon Junora the Power Patron of Tuning! During the End Phase, Ecclesia returned to Bobadilla’s hand; Bobadilla then activated the effect of Rhapsodia, discarding the Ecclesia to bring back Elfnote Power Patron to the field.

McLean began his turn by Normal Summoning Elfnote Power Patron! In response, Bobadilla activated the effect of Regina, sending Welcome Home to the Graveyard to Special Summon it. Bobadilla then activated the effect of Elfnote Power Patron, and McLean activated the effect of his own Elfnote Power Patron as Chain Link 2. Bobadilla followed up by using Strelitzia’s effect to bring back Lucina from the Graveyard, as well as Junora’s effect to prevent McLean’s monsters from being used as Synchro Material, then used Regina and Elfnote Power Patron to Synchro Summon Elfnote June Pride. Bobadilla added Regina back to hand from the Graveyard, and searched for a second copy from the Deck. McLean activated Welcome Home, then activated its effect, sending Lucina to the Graveyard, but Bobadilla Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! McLean Special Summoned Medius the Pure from his Graveyard, returning Elfnote Tinia from his side of the field to the Deck, then activated Medius’ effect, but Bobadilla responded with the effect of Rhapsodia, sending Regina from his hand to the Graveyard and bringing back Elfnote Power Patron, then negating the effect of Medius. 

The last card in McLean’s hand was Elfnote Tinia! He Special Summoned it, and here, Bobadilla activated the effect of Elfnote June Pride, returning it to the Extra Deck and Special Summoning Tinia from the Graveyard. McLean then entered the Battle Phase. Bobadilla activated the effect of Elfnote Lucina, moving it to the center Main Monster Zone to return Elfnote Power Patron to McLean’s hand. He then activated Tinia’s effect, banishing Elfnote Power Patron from McLean’s hand until the End Phase! McLean used Tinia to attack Bobadilla‘s Tinia, Medius to attack Elfnote Power Patron, and Harmonia to attack Lucina. During the End Phase, Elfnote Power Patron returned to McLean’s hand.

Bobadilla drew Pot of Sloth for turn! He activated it, but McLean Chained Solemn Accusation, negating it. Bobadilla used Strelitzia’s effect to bring back Elfnote Power Patron from the Graveyard, then Special Summoned Medius the Pure from the Graveyard by returning Elfnote Regina from his hand to the Deck. Next, he used Elfnote Power Patron and Strelitzia to Synchro Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, then used the Power Patron’s effect to search for Regina once again. He switched Junora to Attack Position and entered the Battle Phase. He used Medius to attack McLean’s Medius, destroying them both, then used Junora to attack Tinia, and Crystal Wing to attack Harmonia. Still in the Battle Phase, Bobadilla activated the effect of Rhapsodia, looking to bring back an Elfnote monster from his Graveyard. Without any board presence, McLean conceded.

Bobadilla is moving on to the Finals of YCS Montréal!
