Lucas Sacco from Tulsa, Oklahoma and Vinicius Curcio from Sao Paulo, Brazil are at Table 2 in Round 9 of the Advanced Main Event at YCS Montréal. Sacco is using a 60-card Deck filled with powerful engines of cards including Mitsurugi, Adventure, and Light and Darkness Ritual. It’s a powerful combo Deck that Sacco can use to build insurmountable fields. He’s currently undefeated! Curcio is currently 7-1 with his Sky Striker Deck. His Deck focuses on Spell Cards, which may help him overcome a powerful setup that Sacco is able to create. Only one of these Duelists can win this Feature Match. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Curcio started his turn and Sacco activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos from his hand in the Standby Phase.

Curcio activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! next, and used its effect to add Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand. He Set 3 cards to his back row and then Normal Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye before ending his turn. In the End Phase, Sacco discarded Griffoh to activate its effect and Set Mind Shuffle from his Deck. He flipped it up and activated its effect to add Skull Archfiend of Chaos from his Deck to his hand and discard it. He activated the Skull Archfiend’s effect by sending Light and Darkness Ritual from his Deck to his Graveyard and added Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos from his Deck to his hand.

Sacco drew Nightmare Hands and added it to his hand of Mitsurugi Mirror, Griffoh, Pot of Sloth, Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos, and Water Enchantress of the Temple. He activated Pot of Sloth to draw 4 cards – Forbidden Droplet, Nightmare Hands, Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi, and Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji – and return 3 cards from his hand to the bottom of his Deck. He activated the effect of the Light and Darkness Ritual in his Graveyard to return it to his hand alongside Griffoh and then Normal Summoned Griffoh. He sent Griffoh to the Graveyard to Link Summon Relinquished Anima with its Link Arrow pointing to Raye and activated Anima’s effect; but Curcio flipped Forbidden Crown and afflicted the Anima with a variety of effects, including one that negated the Anima’s effect. Next, Sacco activated the effect of his face-up Mind Shuffle, and Curcio Chained The Fallen & The Virtuous to destroy it by sending Albion the Branded Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. Sacco activated Light and Darkness Ritual next. He Tributed Futsu from his hand to Ritual Summon Magician of Black Chaos – Dark Chaos and activated the effects of his Magician of Black Chaos and the Tributed Futsu. Curcio Chained Raye’s effect by Tributing it and then Chained Widow Anchor. He negated the Magician of Black Chaos’s effect and took control of it with Widow Anchor, then Special Summoned Sky Striker Ace = Zero from his Extra Deck. Sacco added Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi from his Deck to his hand with Futsu’s effect. Curcio declined to use Zero’s effect when it was Summoned, and Sacco activated Forbidden Droplet! He sent his Anima to the Graveyard to negate the effect of Zero. Next, Sacco banished Water Enchantress from his hand to add Rite of Aramesir from his Deck to his hand and activated it. He Special Summoned an Adventurer Token and placed Fateful Adventure face-up in his Spell & Trap Card Zone. Sacco activated the effect of Habakiri in his hand and Special Summoned Saji from his Deck. He Tributed it and then activated the effects of Fateful Adventure and Saji. He added Mitsurugi Ritual from his Deck to his hand with Saji’s effect and added Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon from his Deck to his hand with effect of Fateful Adventure. He then used Fateful Adventure’s other effect to add Wandering Gryphon Rider from his Deck to his hand and discard Dracoback. He used Dracoback’s effect to equip the Dracoback to his Adventurer Token and then Special Summoned Wandering Gryphon Rider from his hand in Attack Position. Sacco used Dracoback’s effect to return Magician of Dark Chaos to his hand and then Special Summoned Skull Archfiend of Chaos from his Graveyard by returning Raye, Albion, and Mind Shuffle from the Graveyards to the Deck. He activated Mitsurugi Ritual to Summon Habakiri next, and Curcio finally conceded.

Duel Two

Curcio started off Duel 2 by activating Pot of Desires. He banished the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down to draw 2 cards, prompting Sacco to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird from his hand. Curcio Chained Radiant Typhoon – Vision to draw 2 cards and discard Widow Anchor. Next, Curcio activated Triple Tactics Talent. He looked at Sacco’s hand of Pre-Preparation of Rites, WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils, and Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos, and returned WANTED to Sacco’s Deck. Curcio Set 3 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Sacco drew Mitsurugi Prayers! He activated Pre-Preparation of Rites in his Main Phase, losing out to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and then followed up with Mitsurugi Prayers. He Tributed Murakumo from his hand to add Habakiri to his hand and then activated Murakumo’s effect, but lost out to Curcio’s own Droll & Lock Bird! Sacco activated Habakiri’s effect to Special Summon Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi from his Deck and Tribute it, then used Kusanagi’s effect to return Prayers from his Graveyard to his hand. He Set it and then ended his turn.

Curcio Normal Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye and attacked directly with it. Sacco activated Prayers by Tributing Habakiri from his hand. He added Futsu from his Deck to his hand and Special Summoned Kusanagi back to his field in Attack Position. He used the effects of Habakiri and Kusanagi. He added Mirror from his Deck to his hand with Habakiri’s effect and added Prayers from his Graveyard to his hand with Kusanagi’s effect. Curcio flipped The Fallen & The Virtuous by sending Albion from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard, destroying Kusanagi. Raye inflicted 1500 points of damage to Sacco’s Life Points with its direct attack, and Sacco conceded.

Duel Three

Sacco opened up Duel 3 with Mitsurugi Great Purification, Water Enchantress of the Temple, Skull Archfiend of Chaos, and 2 copies of Nightmare Hands.

He activated Nightmare Hands to send Fleeting Phantom Mask Master from his Deck to his Graveyard, then banished Nightmare Hands from his Graveyard to Special Summon it. He activated its effect to send Black Chaos from his Deck to his Graveyard and then Normal Summoned Water Enchantress. He sent his two monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Reprodocus and then banished Water Enchantress from his Graveyard to add Rite of Aramesir from his Deck to his hand. Curcio activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird! Sacco activated the Rite of Aramesir to Special Summon an Adventurer Token and place Fateful Adventure from his Deck face-up on his field. Next, he Special Summoned Skull Archfiend of Chaos from his hand by returning Water Enchantress and Black Chaos to the bottom of his Deck, and returning Droll from Curcio’s Graveyard to the bottom of the Deck. Sacco activated the effect of Fateful Adventure to equip his Adventurer Token with the Dracoback in his Deck. He Set Great Purification and Nightmare Hands before ending his turn.

Curcio drew a card and then entered his Main Phase. He activated The Fallen & The Virtuous by sending Albion from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and targeted the Adventure Token for destruction. He Chained Sky Striker Mobilize – Linkage! and resolved Linkage by sending The Fallen & The Virtuous to the Graveyard and Special Summoning Sky Striker Ace – Hayate from his Extra Deck. The Token was destroyed by The Fallen & The Virtuous. Hayate attacked and destroyed Reprodocus and then Curcio used Hayate’s effect to send Sky Striker Ace – Roze from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Roze with its effect and then entered Main Phase 2. He sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace = Zero. He activated Zero’s effect to Tribute it and Special Summon Roze and Raye, also destroying Sacco’s face-down Great Purification. Curcio combined Roze and Raye to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Camellia next and used its effect to send Widow Anchor from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Engage next. He added Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon from his Deck to his hand and drew a card. Next, he used Camellia as a Link Material to Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and used Kagari’s effect to add Engage back to his hand. He activated Engage and used its effect to add Raye from his Deck to his hand and draw a card. He sent Kagari to the Graveyard to Link Summon Prototype Sky Striker Ace – Amatsu, then Normal Summoned Raye. He sent Raye and Prototype to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Azalea and used its effect to destroy Sacco’s face-down Nightmare Hands. He sent Azalea to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku and then Set 2 cards to his back row. In the End Phase, he used Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Special Maneuver – Lemnisgate! from his Deck to his hand.

Sacco drew Mitsurugi Ritual next turn. He activated the effect of Fateful Adventure to add Water Enchantress from his Deck to his hand and discard it, prompting Curcio to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Sacco then banished the Water Enchantress from his Graveyard to return Rite of Aramesir from his Graveyard to his hand. He activated it to Special Summon an Adventurer Token, prompting Curcio to flip The Fallen & The Virtuous to destroy the Token by sending Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. Sacco ended his turn with no other play.

Curcio sent Shizuku to the Graveyard to Link Summon Kagari and used its effect to return Engage to his hand. He activated it to add Linkage from his Deck to his hand and draw a card. Next, he used the effect of Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon. He returned it to his Deck along with the Albion in his Graveyard in order to return the Skull Archfiend on Sacco’s field to his Deck. Curcio activated Lemnisgate next, returning 4 cards from his Graveyard to his Deck. He activated Linkage, sending Kagari to the Graveyard to Special Summon Zero. He attacked directly with Zero and then used its effect to Special Summon Raye and Roze. They each attacked directly, and then he used Raye’s effect to Special Summon Hayate. He then banished Lemnisgate! from his Graveyard to use its effect and send Roze to the Graveyard in order to Link Summon Prototype. Direct attacks from Hayate and Prototype wiped out Sacco’s Life Points!
