The Genesys event is down from 169 Duelists to just the Top 8! Blitzclique was the most popular Deck of the event, but this Feature Match is the only Top 8 Match without one. We’ve got Samuel Deng, here from Scarborough, ON, against Khari Goosby, from Pittsburgh, PA. These Duelists actually played in the final round of Swiss, where Deng’s Dracotail Deck was victorious over Goosby’s Toy White Forest Deck. Will Deng get a repeat win, or will Goosby get his revenge?

Duel 1

Deng won the roll and chose to play first. Goosby had a hand of Forbidden Chalice, two copies of Silvy of the White Forest, and two copies of Evenly Matched.

Deng began with Ketu Dracotail to add Dracotail Lukias to his hand. He Normal Summoned Lukias to add Dracotail Faimena to his hand. He played Rahu Dracotail, fusing Faimena with Darklord Gulgolet, along with Dracotail Urgula from the Deck, into Dracotail Arthalion. Arthalion returned Urgula and Faimena to Deng’s hand, Faimena Set Dracotail Sting, Urgula Set Dracotail Horn, and Gulgolet added Forbidden Chalice to his hand. He activated Faimena’s effect, fusing Lukias and Urgula into Secreterion Dragon. He used Urgula’s effect, returning it to the Deck to add Faimena to his hand. He Set two back row cards to finish.

Goosby drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He moved to the Battle Phase, and Deng realized what was coming. At the start of the Battle Phase, he used Dracotail Horn to return Arthalion to his Extra Deck, while also recycling his Ketu and drawing a card. Goosby played Evenly Matched, and Deng flipped Chalice on Secreterion, then used Flame to negate Chalice and draw a card. Evenly Matched resolved, and Deng banished everything except his Secreterion. Goosby continued by negating Secreterion with his own Forbidden Chalice, then Normal Summoned Silvy. He added Tales of the White Forest to his hand, and played it to add Elzette of the White Forest to his hand. He used Elzette’s effect, sending his second Evenly Matched to the Graveyard to Special Summon Elzette and add Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest to his hand. He used its effect to Special Summon itself, then used it and Silvy to Synchro Summon Coral Dragon. He used Elzette Azamina’s effect to add Diabellstar Vengeance to his hand. He used Elzette and Coral Dragon to Synchro Summon Diabell, Queen of the White Forest. Diabell returned Forbidden Chalice to his hand, and Coral let him draw Piri Reis Map. He Special Summoned Diabellstar Vengeance, banishing Evenly Matched and Tales from the Graveyard. He paid half his Life Points for Vengeance to destroy Secreterion Dragon and Special Summon his Poplar of the White Forest. Poplar returned Elzette and Elzette Azamina to the field as Continuous Spells, and Goosby used them to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Doomed Dragon. He used that and Poplar to Synchro Summon Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon. He Set Chalice to finish the turn.

Deng played Polymerization! He fused Faimena and Urgula into Dracotail Gulamel. Faimena and Urgula activated, and Goosby flipped Chalice to negate Gulamel. Deng’s effects Set Rahu and Ketu. Goosby now used Diabellstar Vengeance to destroy the Set Ketu. Deng moved to the Battle Phase, sending Gulamel boosted by Forbidden Chalice to attack over Diabell. Deng then used Urgula’s effect to add Lukias to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and activated its effect, and Goosby destroyed it with Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. Lukias’s effect added Dracotail Pan to his hand. He played Double Fusion, and Goosby responded with Snake-Eyes Vengeance to push Gulamel into the back row. Deng fused Pan with Predaplant Lilizard into Dracotail Arthalion. Arthalion returned Pan and Faimena to his hand, then Pan Set Dracotail Horn and destroyed Snake-Eyes Vengeance. Deng flipped up Rahu, fusing Pan with Dracotail Lukias from his Deck into Dracotail Shaulas. Shaulas returned Diabellstar Vengeance to Goosby’s Deck. In the End Phase, Goosby used Silvy’s effect, bringing it back to the field. He returned Elzette from his Graveyard to his hand.

Goosby drew Diabellze the White Witch. He Normal Summoned his second Silvy, adding Scourge of the White Forest to his hand. He Special Summoned Elzette by sending Piri Reis Map to the Graveyard, and added Rucia of the White Forest to his hand. He used Silvy and Elzette to Synchro Summon Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest, which flipped Deng’s monsters face-down. He Special Summoned Rucia, then used it and Silvy to Synchro Summon Visas Amritara. He Special Summoned Diabellze by sending Scourge to the Graveyard. He Set the Scourge from his Graveyard, and Diabellze sent Curse of Diabell to the Graveyard. Curse let him add Filia Diabell to his hand, and he played that to add Diabellstar Vengeance to his hand. He banished Curse and Filia to Special Summon Diabellstar Vengeance, and Filia increased his monsters’ ATK. He activated Diabellstar Vengeance’s effect on Deng’s Dracotail Horn, forcing him to activate it now. Goosby had played around Dracotail Horn by playing most of his monsters in Defense Position, except for Silvera and Visas Amritara, so Deng returned the Amritara. Diabellstar Vengeance destroyed the Horn and brought Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest to the field. He attacked with Rciela and Silvera, dealing piercing battle damage over Deng’s monsters. Deng was down to 4700 Life Points, while Goosby had just 650 after all his Diabellstar Vengeance activations.

Deng played Ketu, and Goosby flipped up Scourge to negate it. Deng conceded!

Duel 2

Goosby started this time with Silvy of the White Forest, Astellar of the White Forest, Curse of Diabell, and two copies of Cosmic Cyclone.

Deng Normal Summoned Lukias and added Faimena to his hand. He played Double Fusion, fusing Lukias and Urgula into Gulamel. Lukias and Urgula Set Ketu and Rahu. He flipped up Ketu to add Pan to his hand. Rahu then let him fuse Pan and Faimena from his hand, along with Dracotail Mululu from his Deck, into Arthalion. Arthalion returned Pan and Mululu to his hand. His three Dracotails Set Dracotail Horn, Dracotail Flame, and Dracotail Sting. He used Urgula’s effect to return Faimena to his hand, and Set one more back row card.

Goosby drew Elzette. He played Cosmic Cyclone to banish Horn. Deng Chained it, returning Arthalion to the Extra Deck and recycling Ketu to draw a card. Goosby played his second Cosmic Cyclone, this time targeting Sting. Deng flipped Dracotail Flame to negate Cosmic Cyclone, and returned his banished Horn to the Deck. Goosby Special Summoned Elzette by sending Curse of Diabell to the Graveyard. Deng responded with Sting to banish Curse before it could activate, but Goosby still was able to resolve Elzette. He Special Summoned it and added Diabellze the White Witch to his hand. He Normal Summoned Silvy and used its effect to add Tales to his hand. Deng now used Faimena’s effect, and Chained Gulamel to destroy Silvy. Deng fused Pan and Lukias into Mixousia the Confounder. Lukias Set Rahu, then Pan Set Ketu and destroyed Elzette. Goosby Special Summoned Diabellze by sending Tales to the Graveyard. Tales returned to the field, and Diabellze sent Diabellstar Vengeance to the Graveyard. Deng activated Cosmic Cyclone to banish Tales, and Goosby conceded!

Duel 3

Goosby opened the final Duel with a hand of Piri Reis Map, Filia Diabell, Tales, and two copies of Astellar.

He Normal Summoned Astellar, then played Tales to add Elzette to his hand. He used Astellar’s effect, sending Map to the Graveyard to Special Summon Silvy. He used Silvy’s effect to add Woes of the White Forest to his hand. He used his monsters to Synchro Summon Rciela, which sent Woes to the Graveyard to add Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest to his hand. He Set Woes from the Graveyard, then Special Summoned Astellar from the Graveyard. He used both monsters to Synchro Summon Diabell, which returned Tales to his hand. He sent Tales to the Graveyard to Special Summon Elzette and add Diabellze the White Witch. He Set Tales from the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Silvy from the Graveyard, then used it and Elzette to Synchro Summon Coral Dragon. He Special Summoned Elzette Azamina, then used it and Coral Dragon to Synchro Summon Visas Amritara. Amritara added Mannadium Reframing to his hand, Coral Dragon let him draw another Silvy, and Elzette Azamina added Sinful Spoils of the White Forest to his hand. He Special Summoned Diabellze by sending Sinful Spoils of the White Forest, sending Curse to the Graveyard. He Set Sinful Spoils of the White Forest from the Graveyard. He activated Filia Diabell, adding Diabellstar Vengeance to his hand. He Special Summoned it by banishing Filia and Curse, which gave all his monsters an ATK boost. He Set Mannadium Reframing to finish the turn!

Deng handed over Kumongous, the Sticky String Kaiju, by Tributing Diabell. He played Predaprimative, sending Predaplant Byblisp to the Graveyard to add Double Fusion to his hand. Byblisp added Predaplant Longinephila to his hand. He Normal Summoned it to add Predaplant Lilizard to his hand. Goosby now used Diabellstar Vengeance, paying half his Life Points to destroy Longinephila and Special Summon Poplar of the White Forest. Deng banished Longinephila to put a Predator Counter on Poplar. He Special Summoned Byblisp from the Graveyard, Goosby activated Poplar’s effect, tuning it to Kumongous for Draco Berserker of the Tenyi, thanks to the Predator Counter changing Poplar’s Level. Deng played Double Fusion, and Goosby flipped Mannadium Reframing. Deng activated Lilizard’s effect, and Goosby banished it with Draco Berserker before it could hit the field. Deng played Polymerization, fusing Faimena and Skull Meister into Arthalion. He activated Faimena’s effect first, then Arthalion targeting Faimena and Kumongous. He returned the targeted cards to his hand, and Set Ketu Dracotail. Goosby flipped up Sinful Spoils of the White Forest, activating its effect to Fusion Summon. He fused Diabellstar Vengeance and Diabellze into Azamina Sol Erysichthon, which sent the Set Ketu to the Graveyard. Deng moved to the Battle Phase, sending Gulamel to attack Sol Erysichthon. Goosby flipped Woes, then Chained Silvy’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard. Woes brought Elzette to the field, and he Synchro Summoned Silvera to flip Deng’s monsters face-down. Deng moved to Main Phase 2, using Faimena to fuse his face-down Gulamel with Kumongous for Shaulas. He returned his own Rahu and Faimena to his Deck to shuffle Draco Berserker into the Extra Deck. Deng used King of the Swamp to add Polymerization to his hand. He played it to fuse Shaulas with Byblisp into Predaplant Dragostapelia. He Special Summoned Arthalion from his Graveyard, and Dragostapelia put a Predator Counter on Sol Erysichthon to negate its effect.

Goosby drew Cosmic Cyclone. He Normal Summoned Astellar, using it and Silvera to Synchro Summon Diabell. Diabell returned Sinful Spoils of the White Forest to his hand, and Deng Special Summoned Shaulas from the Graveyard. He then Chained Dragostapelia targeting Diabell, and Goosby Chained Diabell’s effect, sending Tales to the Graveyard to Special Summon Silvera. He Set Tales from the Graveyard, and returned Astellar to the field. Dragostapelia then negated Diabell. Goosby used Astellar and Amritara to bring Fabled Levilazebul to the field, and used its effect to steal Dragostapelia. He Special Summoned Diabellstar Vengeance and destroyed Deng’s Arthalion. Deng was wide open, and Goosby’s monsters finished him off!
