Day 2 of the Genesys YCS is underway, and both of our Duelists are currently 7-2. They need to keep a winning record to make it into the Top 8 cut for this weekend’s event.

Ambrose “AJ” Jones is from Kansas City, Missouri! He’s playing Labrynth this weekend and was featured on the Livestream Stage on Friday.

Nathan Chau is from Houston, Texas. He is using Blitzclique this weekend; he only lives 20 minutes from the event hall!

Duel One

Jones won the dice roll and chose to start the match. He started with two copies of Simultaneous Equation Cannons, Dark Hole, Dogmatika Punishment, and Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle.

Jones Set 3 cards and ended his turn.

Chau started his turn with Blitzclique – Steppleader and Special Summoned Crackle Blitzclique; he activated its effect and sent Blitzclique Alternator from his Deck to the Graveyard. Chau banished Alternator to add Blitzclique – Breakaway from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Breakaway and placed Alternator from his Deck onto the field. Chau activated Alternator and traded in his Crackle to add Grain Blitzclique from the Deck to his hand. He then activated Grain and tried to destroy one of Jones’ face-down cards. Jones flipped and Chained Simultaneous Equation Cannons! He banished Thousand-Eyes Restrict; Vallon, the Super Psy Skyblaster; and Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry for his Cannons but couldn’t apply the rest of the effect.

Chau Special Summoned Grain, and then activated and added back his Breakaway and Steppleader. He then activated Hideout in the Sky, Coulomb, and used its effect to give Jones a Mech Beast Token so that he could add Surge Blitzclique from his Deck to his hand. In a new Chain, Chau activated Whisker Blitzclique, Jones Chained Dogmatika Punishment, and sent Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts to the Graveyard to destroy Grain Blitzclique. Chau Special Summoned Whisker and Surge, then destroyed the Token and Jones’ face-down Simultaneous Equation Cannons. In another new Chain, he activated Surge to add Emi Blitzclique from his Deck to his hand. Chau then Special Summoned Emi by destroying his Alternator. He Normal Summoned Rescue-ACE Impulse and went into his Battle Phase.

In one quick turn, Chau takes the first Duel!

Duel Two

Jones chose to start the second Duel. He started with Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon, Arias the Labrynth Butler, Labrynth Labyrinth, Arianna the Labrynth Servant, and Dogmatika Punishment.

Jones started his turn by Normal Summoning Arianna the Labrynth Servant and activated its effect to add Big Welcome Labrynth from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Arias the Labrynth Butler from his hand and Set his Big Welcome before activating it! Jones Special Summoned Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle from the Deck and returned Arianna to his hand. He activated Lovely’s effect and destroyed the Emi Blitzclique in Chau’s hand. Jones then activated Lovely’s other effect and put his Big Welcome Labrynth back onto the field. He then activated Labrynth Labyrinth. He Set two cards and went into his End Phase.

Chau started his turn with Blitzclique – Steppleader. He activated its effect, and Jones Chained Big Welcome Labrynth; Chau Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Jones’ Labrynth Labyrinth. Jones then Special Summoned Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle from his Deck and returned it to his hand. Chau Special Summoned Surge Blitzclique and destroyed his Steppleader. In a new Chain, Chau activated the effect of Surge, Jones Chained the effect of Lovely, Chau Chained the effect of Whisker Blitzclique in his hand, Jones Chained the effect of Arias from his Graveyard, and then he added Lady Labrynth onto the Chain as well.

Resolving the Chain, Jones Special Summoned Lady and Arias. Chau Special Summoned Whisker and destroyed the face-down Dogmatika Punishment; Lovely’s effect destroyed the Alternator in Chau’s hand, and then Chau added Grain Blitzclique from his Deck to his hand. In another new Chain, Chau activated Steppleader in the Graveyard, and Jones Chained the effect of Arias on the field. Chau Chained to Arias with the effect of Whisker to negate Arias.

After all of that, Jones activated Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon, and Chau banished his Alternator from the Graveyard to add Hideout in the Sky, Coulomb from his Deck to the hand. Chau then activated Steppleader from his hand, followed by Hideout in the Sky, Coulomb. He used Hideout’s effect to give Jones a Mech Beast Token and add another Whisker Blitzclique from his Deck to his hand. Chau Normal Summoned Grain Blitzclique, then activated Surge’s effect to destroy the face-down Lady Labrynth. In a new Chain, Chau used Steppleader’s effect and Grain’s effects. He added back Emi Blitzclique and Blitzclique – Breakaway from his Graveyard. Chau then Special Summoned Emi and destroyed the face-down Lovely Labrynth.

In the Battle Phase, Chau attacked the Token with Surge, then attacked directly with Emi and Grain. He Set one card and ended his turn.

Jones drew Welcome Labrynth at the start of his turn. He Normal Summoned Arianna the Labrynth Servant and activated its effect to add Labrynth Cooclock from his Deck to his hand. Jones activated Cooclock and then Set and activated his Welcome Labrynth. He Special Summoned Labrynth Chandraglier from his Deck. He moved to his Battle Phase and sent Chandraglier into Emi and destroyed it in battle.

In the End Phase, Chau activated Breakaway and returned Grain to target Arianna, Jones Chained Big Welcome Labrynth from his Graveyard and bounced Arianna. Still in the End Phase, he activated Chandraglier and Set Big Welcome Labrynth from his Deck, then used Cooclock’s effect to Special Summon from the Graveyard. He ended his turn.

At the start of Chau’s turn, Jones activated Big Welcome Labrynth! He Special Summoned Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle from his Deck and returned Cooclock to his hand. In a new Chain, Jones activated Lovely’s effect, then Chained the effect of his Chandraglier. Jones continued to add Welcome Labrynth and Cooclock onto the Chain. He put Welcome back onto the field face-down, added back Chandraglier, and finally destroyed Chau’s face-down Whisker.

In a new Chain, Chau activated Surge to add Emi Blitzclique from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Emi and targeted Jones’ newly Set Welcome Labrynth. Jones flipped it to Special Summon Arianna the Labrynth Servant from the Deck. Chau Special Summoned Emi and then activated Steppleader and Breakaway’s effects. He added back Breakaway and Whisker from the Graveyard while Jones added Labrynth Stovie Torbie from his Deck to his hand.

Chau moved straight into his Battle Phase and activated the Whisker Blitzclique in his hand. He Special Summoned Whisker, Crackle, and Grain and destroyed all of Jones’ monsters!

Knowing he couldn’t survive the turn, Jones offered the handshake with a smile.

Nathan Chau wins the match with his Blitzclique Deck!
