Welcome back to more Genesys action! We saw Nebraska Duelist Dawson Schawang win his Round 3 Feature Match yesterday, and he’s still cruising with his Trains Deck! He’s facing Wesley Wilbur, from Yukon, Oklahoma, using a Radiant Typhoon Deck packing the new Dark Time Wizard cards!

Duel 1

Schawang won the dice roll and chose to play second. He had a hand of Exceptional Schedule, Scrap Recycler, Tokusano Shinkyojin, and two copies of Heavy Armored Knight Babeldecker.

Wilbur began by Special Summoning Radiant Typhoon Swen in Defense Position, adding Radiant Typhoon Mandate to his hand. He Special Summoned Radiant Typhoon Eldam, adding Mystical Space Typhoon to his hand. He Xyz Summoned M-X-Saber Invoker, and used its effect to Special Summon Swiftwind Panther Warrior in Defense Position. He used its effect, Tributing K9-ØØ Lupis from his hand to Special Summon Alligator’s Dragon Knight. The Dragon Knight added Dark Time Wizard and Graceful & Skull Dice to his hand, then discarded the Dice. He activated Dark Time Wizard to add Reversal Box to his hand. He used Invoker to Xyz Summon Xyz Armor Fortress, which added Full-Armored Xyz to his hand. He Set five back row cards to finish the turn, and returned Dark Time Wizard from his Graveyard to his hand.

Schawang drew Kumongous, the Sticky String Kaiju. He activated Exceptional Schedule, adding Urgent Schedule to his hand and giving Wilbur a Diagram Token. He played Urgent Schedule, and Wilbur flipped Mystical Space Typhoon on his own face-down Mandate. He then flipped the Mandate to negate Urgent Schedule. Mandate was destroyed, triggering its effect to return Set on the field. Schawang played Tokusano Shinkyojin, sending Babeldecker to draw Convex Knight and Pot of Sloth! He played Sloth to draw EIGHT cards, returning seven to the Deck. He wound up with a hand of Limiter Removal; Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju; Gadarla, the Mystery Dust Kaiju; Subspace Battle; Babeldecker, and Heavy Freight Train Derricrane.

He played Subspace Battle, and asked, “Do you know what this card does?”

“I do know what that does.”

“Good, because it’s been kind of a train wreck,” Schawang smiled.

The Subspace Battle resolved, leaving two copies of Jizukiru and Carnot the Eternal Machine in Schawang’s hand, while Swen, Noble Knights’ Shield-Bearer, and Jinzo – Energy Shocker were all destroyed, dealing 1500 damage to Wilbur. Schawang Tributed Alligator’s Dragon Knight to hand over Jizukiru. He Set Urgent Schedule, then banished Exceptional Schedule from the Graveyard to send the Set Urgent Schedule to the Graveyard and Special Summon Babeldecker. Urgent Schedule’s effect added Night Train Blue Traveler to his hand. He discarded Blue Traveler to add Revolving Switchyard to his hand. He Special Summoned Jizukiru to his own field, using both of his monsters to Xyz Summon Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Flying Launcher. That added Super Express Bullet Train to his hand. He used Flying Launcher’s effect, detaching its materials to destroy Reversal Box and Full-Armored Xyz. He Special Summoned Bullet Train, then Special Summoned Derricrane. He stacked them for Tistina, the Divinity that Defies Darkness, which sent Wilbur’s Typhoon and Mandate to the Graveyard. He used Flying Launcher to Xyz Summon Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe. Wilbur banished his Graceful & Skull Dice from the Graveyard to try and destroy Liebe, but rolled a 4! Schawang Normal Summoned Babeldecker, then used it to Xyz Summon  Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Rocket. He moved to the Battle Phase, and Wilbur used Swiftwind Panther Warrior to Tribute his Diagram Token, and Schawang used Gustav Rocket to negate and destroy the Panther, dealing 1000 damage. Gustav Rocket attacked Xyz Armor Fortress, and Wilbur banished Full-Armored Xyz from the Graveyard to equip Fortress with M-X-Saber Invoker. Schawang activated Limiter Removal! With Liebe attacking multiple monsters and everything with double the ATK, he had more than enough to end the first Duel!

Duel 2

Wilber decided to play first in this Duel. Schawang had a hand of Urgent Schedule, Pot of Sloth, Babeldecker, Blue Traveler, and Revolving Switchyard.

Wilbur Set three cards in his back row and passed.

Schawang drew Derricrane. He led with Urgent Schedule, and Wilbur flipped Ashtra’s Domain to negate it. He played Sloth next, drawing Kumongous and Carnot, putting Switchyard on the bottom of his Deck. He used Traveler’s effect to add the Switchyard to his hand again, and activated it. He tried using Switchyard, discarding Derricrane, but Wilbur destroyed the Field Spell with Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. Schawang Normal Summoned Babeldecker, then Xyz Summoned Flying Launcher. He added Super Express Bullet Train to his hand, then Special Summoned Bullet Train and Carnot. He Xyz Summoned Tistina, and Wilbur Chained to Tistina’s effect with Graceful & Skull Dice, rolling a total of 8 to reduce Schawang’s monsters by 1600 ATK. Schawang used Flying Launcher to Xyz Summon Liebe, and Wilbur banished the Dice from his Graveyard… and rolled an 8! Liebe was destroyed! The Duelists both commented on how this was a Joey moment, with Wilbur holding on with just one card in hand and relying on dice rolls. Schawang Special Summoned Blue Traveler and Derricrane from the Graveyard, and attacked with all his monsters. In Main Phase 2, he Xyz Summoned Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora in Defense Position.

Wilbur drew a second card… and passed the turn. He’d drawn nothing to help, and Schawang sent his monsters to end this Match!
