Advanced Round 11 Feature Match: Aeres James Alexander Ham vs. Ivan Alberto Robledo Villa
We’re getting close to the Top 8, and these Duelists are looking for wins to secure their place. Aeres Ham, from Austin, Texas, is here with his Angelechy Deck – the strategy to beat in Genesys, it seems. His opponent is Ivan Robledo Villa, originally from Mexico but now living in Georgia. Robledo is doing very well with Radiant Typhoon Sprights, the only Duelist representing this Deck in the tournament today.
Duel 1
Ham won the dice roll and played first. Robledo had a hand of Spright Red; Dark Magical Curtain; Testudo erat Numen; Freezing Chains of the Ice Barrier; and Nibiru, the Primal Being.
Ham led with Foolish Burial Goods, sending Angelechy Disturbance to the Graveyard, then banished Disturbance to add Angelechy Opposition to his hand. He activated Opposition, giving Robledo an Angelechy Seneschal, and placing Angelechy Destrier on his own side of the field. Both cards activated: Destrier added Angelechy Strategy Score to his hand, and Seneschal brought Angelechy Bastion to Ham’s field. Destrier also dealt 500 damage to Robledo for activating Seneschal’s effect. Ham activated Strategy Score next, adding Angelechy Problem to his hand. He activated it, using its effect to discard Angelechy Opening to e4 and Special Summon Angelechy Enlisted, while placing a Bastion in his back row. Bastion put Angelechy Shatranga in his back row, which added a new Opening to e4 to his hand. He used Enlisted’s effect to banish Seneschal, returning it to the Extra Deck. He used Enlisted and Bastion to Synchro Summon Master Flare Hyperion. He Set one more back row card to finish the turn.

Robledo drew Nimble Beaver. In the Draw Phase, he activated Dark Magical Curtain, taking 500 damage from Destrier. Robledo Special Summoned Witch of the Black Forest. In the Standby Phase, Ham flipped Opening to e4. He replaced his Field Spell with Angelechy Endgame Problem, Special Summoned Enlisted, and put a second Destrier in his back row. He used Destrier’s effect to add Strategy Score to his hand. Ham then used Endgame Problem to draw a card. Robledo Normal Summoned Nimble Beaver, using its effect to Special Summon Nimble Angler, and took 1000 damage from the Destrier pair. He Special Summoned Spright Red, then used Witch of the Black Forest and Nimble Beaver to Link Summon Spright Sprind. He activated Witch’s effect, adding EM:P Meowmine to his hand, and took another 1000 damage. He Special Summoned Meowmine, stacking it with Nimble Angler for Cat Shark. He activated the effect of Sprind, detaching one of Cat Shark’s materials and targeting Hyperion. Ham Chained Hyperion, banishing Enlisted from his Graveyard to target Spright Red. Robledo Chained Red’s effect, Tributing Sprind to negate and destroy Hyperion. He took another 2000 damage by activating his effects under Destrier. This was also his fourth monster effect under Bastion’s limitation. Robledo sent Red and Cat Shark to attack directly. In his second Main Phase, he used Cat Shark to Xyz Summon Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder. Ham activated the effect of Endgame to banish Zeus, and Robledo Chained Zeus’s effect, but Ham had Effect Veiler! Zeus was negated and banished, and Robledo dropped to just 1000 Life Points due to activating Zeus’s effect. He could no longer activate a card due to the double Destrier, and conceded!

Duel 2
Robledo played first this time, with a hand of Spright Red, Swap Frog, Mystical Space Typhoon, Freezing Chains of the Ice Barrier, and Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit.
He Normal Summoned Swap Frog, using its effect to send Mirror Mage of the Ice Barrier to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Spright Red, then activated Freezing Chains to Special Summon Mirror Mage. He used Swap Frog and Mirror Mage to Link Summon Spright Sprind, and activated its effect, and Ham Chained Effect Veiler. Robledo thought a moment, and decided to use Red to Tribute Sprind and negate the Veiler. Sprind’s effect sent Nimble Angler to the Graveyard, and Angler brought two copies of Nimble Beaver to the field. He stacked them for Gigantic Spright, and used its effect to Special Summon Spright Blue. He tried using Blue’s effect, and Ham activated Dominus Purge. Robledo Set Mystical Space Typhoon and passed.

Ham started with Angelechy Strategy Score to add Angelechy Opposition to his hand. He activated Opposition to give Robledo a Seneschal and place Bastion in his back row. Both cards activated, and Robledo flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Bastion before it could resolve. Seneschal let Ham Special Summon Destrier. He played Terraforming to add Angelechy Problem to his hand. He activated Problem and used its effect, discarding Dominus Purge, and Robledo destroyed Problem with Ghost Ogre. Ham went to the Battle Phase, sending Destrier to attack Seneschal. Seneschal’s effect negated the attack, returning the Seneschal to Ham’s field. Now under Ham’s control, Seneschal attacked Gigantic Spright. In Main Phase 2, Ham Normal Summoned Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He tuned it to Destrier for Chaos Angel, using its effect to banish Spright Red.
Robledo drew Radiant Typhoon Ascendance. He activated it to add Mystical Space Typhoon to his hand, and Set it.
Ham played Strategy Score to add Agelechy Disturbance to his hand. He sent Seneschal to destroy Spright Blue, and Chaos Angel attacked directly. He Set the Disturbance, and Robledo destroyed it with Mystical Space Typhoon. Ham banished it from the Graveyard to add Opposition to his hand.
Robledo drew Mist Valley Thunderbird – no help, and he conceded!

Aeres Ham takes this Match with Angelechy!
