Round 1 Feature Match: Jeff Leonard vs. Zach Yocum

It was at the last YCS Indianapolis that Florida Duelist Jeff Leonard made history. In his live streamed Feature Match, the crowd chanted, “ONE MORE PIECE! ONE MORE PIECE!” as Leonard assembled Exodia the Forbidden One to the delight of all! Now that we’ve returned to Indianapolis, we simply had to cover Leonard. His Exodia strategy used the now Forbidden Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights, so he’s swapped to Tenpai Dragons – Deck just as capable of a one-turn KO!

His opponent is Zach Yocum, here from New Jersey. Like Leonard, Yocum is using new cards from Legacy of Destruction, with a mix of Lightsworn, Horus, and Centur-Ion! This strategy opens up many of Synchro and Xyz plays, with a lot of different ways to get value from the Graveyard.

WCQ – CA: Round 1 Feature Match: Galileo Obaldia vs. Adrian Garcia

Galileo Obaldia from Panama is Dueling against Adrian Garcia from Ciudad Victoria Tamaulipas in our first Feature Match of the weekend! Obaldia was the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Champion in 2010, earning himself an invitation to the 2011 World Championship. In 2011, Obaldia took third place at the World Championship. Now he’s back, looking to compete in yet another World Championship. Obaldia is hoping that his Lightsworn Deck, powered up by cards in the new Realm of Light Structure Deck, will get him the victory; but Adrian Garcia is looking to stand in his way with Madolches. It’s time to Duel!

The Finals: Alexander Reed vs. Nizar Sarhan

Alexander Reed is a Dallas local who went 10-1 in the Swiss Rounds and has made it to the Finals! Now, he’s taking his Dragonsworn Deck against former YCS-Championship winner Nizar Sarhan’s Dino Rabbit Deck! Sarhan won YCS Dallas in 2011 by using a Six Samurai Deck, and now he’s defending his title.

Semifinal: Alexander Reed vs. Justin Duren

Alexander Reed is the last Dragon Lightsworn Duelist in the tournament, and Justin Duren is the last Gemini HERO Duelist. For one of these Duelists and one of these Decks, the journey is over. Round 11: Alexander Reed vs. Benito Garcia

Alexander Reed is from Dallas, Texas and came to this tournament with a couple of friends. All of them are using the same Dragon Lightsworn Deck and currently have 8-2 records or better. Reed is currently 9-1, and is Dueling against Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Benito Garcia in Round 11. Garcia is using a Gemini HERO Deck. Both Duelists have a great shot at making it into the Top 32, but the winner here will be guaranteed a spot.

Round 9: Das Anuraag vs. Steven Arias

April 15th, 2012

Das Anuraag and Steven Arias both currently have 6-1-1 records in the tournament, and both of them are using interesting Decks that aren’t widespread in the current field of competitors. Das Anuraag is using a Rescue HERO Deck that can Special Summon Elemental HERO Sparkman from his Deck with Rescue Rabbit in order to make Blade Armor Ninja. Steven Arias is using the newest Dragons from the Dragons Collide Structure Deck, Lightpulsar Dragon and Darkflare Dragon, in a Deck that fills the Graveyard through the effects of Lightsworn monsters in order to make it easier to Summon those Dragons. One of these Duelists will advance to Day 2 with an impressive 7-1-1 record.

Saturday’s Dragon Duel: Nicole Tipple VS Charlie Bingham

12-year-old Nicole Tipple traveled here from New Jersey to participate in today’s Dragon Duel with her Twilight Deck. This is her first ever YCS event, and at the end of 6 Rounds of Dragon Dueling, she is the only undefeated Duelist remaining in the tournament! 10-year-old Charlie Bingham is also a YCS first-timer, and is currently 4-1 with his Dragunity Deck. He was paired up against Tipple in this final round of the tournament. It won’t be easy, but Bingham will need to end Tipple’s winning streak if he hopes to make it to the Top 4 of the tournament.

Sunday’s Dragon Duel: Tombkeeper-Initiate Nathan Swaim VS Zealous Cole Agan

11-year-old Nathan Swaim from North Carolina is facing off against 10-year-old Cole Agan from Virginia in Sunday’s Dragon Duel! Both of these Duelists are currently undefeated with 3-0 records, but only one of them can finish the day with a perfect record and be named the Dragon Duel Champion!

Top 16: Fired-Up Jonathan Barber VS Fusionist Deryck Rothenberger

Jonathan Barber from Jacksonville, Florida is facing off against Deryck Rothenberger from Indianapolis in a Top 16 Feature Match that pits Flamvellsworn against Miracle Gemini! Neither of these Decks were highly anticipated to be top contenders this weekend, but one of them is now guaranteed to make it to the Quarterfinals.
