It’s Time For Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Columbus!

**UPDATE** There are nearly 1100 Duelists in attendance today!

YCS Columbus marks the beginning of a new era in Dueling – the Zexal era! The first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal aired in the United States last week, and in it, a young protagonist named Yuma began his quest to improve his skills and become a Dueling champion!

This weekend’s tournament coverage is designed to help out Duelists with the same aspirations as Yuma. It’s for Duelists who want to improve their Dueling skills.

Turbo Pack 6’s Debut

YCS Indianapolis wasn’t just the debut of new Decks and a new YCS Prize Card. It was also the first-ever chance for Duelists get their hands on packs of the brand new Turbo Pack 6! Competitors in the Public Events were able to earn boosters of this newest Turbo Park starting Thursday, and if you’ve never been around for this kind of release, it’s a heck of a show.

When those first packs go out, and new cards start getting revealed booster by booster, the energy in the air is electric. We can’t quite replicate that experience for you at home, but we CAN show you all 21 cards in the new set! Here’s what the Duelists this weekend are playing for, and here’s what you’ll find at the Konami Official Tournament Store in your neighborhood as early as next weekend. Read more…

Dragon Duel: Honorable Kyle Kukulka vs. 31st Century Brandon Miotke

13-year-old Brandon Miotke lost in the finals of last year’s WCQ Dragon Duel Championship, and now he traveled here from Michigan for a second and final shot at the title. But to earn it, he’ll first need to get through 10-year-old Kyle Kukulka from Illinois! This Round 5 Dragon Duel Feature Match pits Brandon Miotke’s T.G. Deck against Kyle Kukulka’s Samurais! One of these Duelists will advance to the next round with a 5-0 record and strong shot at making the Top 4 cut!

Round 5 Top Table Update

With 9 Rounds of Swiss competition to be played today, we have hit the halfway mark!  It is Round 5 here in Day 1 of the North American WCQ, and it’s a great time to look at what Decks are at the top tables right now.  The WCQ is a remarkable event, but in some ways it’s just like any other tournament: as the tournament progresses round by round, the Duelists with the best records – the most wins – are sorted towards the lower table numbers.  The lower the numbers go, the better the performance of the Duelists seated there: Table 1 is the most coveted position in a competition like this one.  So let’s look at the first 10 Tables, and see what those Duelists are playing!

Now that 3 vs. 3 team tournaments are a fixture of major events, Duelists everywhere are teaming up to create an unstoppable force.
