Michael Kerr from Glendale, California is currently 6-2 in the Genesys Format Main Event with his Dinosaur Deck featuring the new GMX cards from Blazing Dominion. The GMX theme focuses on Fusion Summoning, making it a natural fit for the Genesys Format. Now, Kerr is up against YCS Champion Elijah Green from Lexington, Kentucky, who holds the same record in the tournament with his Mimighoul Deck. Only one of these Duelists can advance with a 7-2 record entering the penultimate Swiss Round of the event. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Kerr opened up Duel 1 with Jurrac Stego, GMX Chairman Kimridge, Jurrac Volcano, Jurrac Megalo, and Returned Dino Daneen.

He Normal Summoned Jurrac Stago and then activated the effect of Jurrac Megalo in his hand to Special Summon it. Next, he used the Stego’s effect to destroy his Megalo and send Miscellaneousaurus from his Deck to his Graveyard, then Special Summon 2 copies of Jurrac Aeolo and 2 copies of Jurrac Megalo from his Deck. He also used his destroyed Megalo’s effect to send Jurrac Astero from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He Tuned Megalo with Stego to Synchro Summon Jurrac Velphito and then Tributed an Aeolo to Special Summon Jurrac Stego from his Graveyard. He Tuned Velphito with Megalo to Synchro Summon Horned Brute Carnovorus. He Tributed another Aeolo to Special Summon Jurrac Megalo from his Graveyard and then activated the Megalo’s effect. He discarded Jurrac Volcano and Daneen from his hand to draw GMX Applied Experiment #55 and Souleating Oviraptor. He Tuned Carnovorus with Stego to Synchro Summon Jurrac Astero. He activated its effect to Set Jurrac Impact from his Deck to his field. Next, he banished Miscellaneousaurus from his Graveyard along with 3 other Dinosaurs to Special Summon Souleating Oviraptor from his Deck. He activated its effect to add Ultimate Conductor Tyranno from his Deck to his hand. He then used his Oviraptor’s effect to destroy the Megalo on his field and Special Summon Daneen from his Graveyard. He activated the effect of Kimridge in his hand next. He shuffled it back into his Deck to add GMX Applied Experiment #55 from his Deck to his hand. He activated it and excavated 5 cards before seeing both a Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju and GMX Chairman Kimridge. He lost 2000 Life Points and then fused Dogoran with Kimridge to Summon GMX – ALLOS. Green activated Dominus Spiral targeting the ALLOS, returning it to the Extra Deck and allowing Green to Special Summon Horned Brute Carnovorus. He Tuned the Carnovorus with Oviraptor to Synchro Summon another Astero and used its effect to Set Jurrac Volcano from his Deck. He flipped it face-up and then activated Daneen’s effect to fuse Daneen with Astero and Summon Evolved Daneen. He used the effects of Evolved Daneen and Returned Dino Daneen, increasing the ATK of his Dinosaurs and adding GMX 55th Experiment Report from his Deck to his hand. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Green activated Mimighoul Maker and revealed Mimighoul Flower and Mimighoul Dragon from his Deck. He randomly Special Summoned the Flower face-down to Kerr’s field and added the Dragon to his hand. Next, Green activated Bot Herder, targeting Kerr’s face-down monster! Kerr Chained Jurrac Impact to destroy all cards on the field so that Green couldn’t take control of them, but Kerr still took the 200 points of damage from its effect. Next, Green Normal Summoned Mimighoul Dragon and used its effect to add Mimighoul Dungeon from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Dungeon, and Kerr Chained the effect of the Astero in his Graveyard by banishing Astero and Megalo from his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Jurrac Meteor from his Extra Deck and used its effect to destroy all cards on his field! He also Special Summoned Carnovorus from his Graveyard. Green paid 4000 Life Points to activate Illusion Gate next! He destroyed the Carnovorus and Special Summoned Jurrac Aeolo from Kerr’s Graveyard in Defense Position. Next, Green activated Where Arf Thou? to add Mimighoul Slime from his Deck to his hand. He activated Slime’s effect to Special Summon it face-down to Kerr’s field, prompting Kerr to use another Astero’s effect. He banished Astero and Meteor from his Graveyard to Summon another Jurrac Meteor, used its effect to clear the field, and then Special Summoned Horned Brute Carnovorus. With just 1 card left in his hand, Green conceded.

Duel Two

Green started off Duel 2 by activating Dimension Shifter in the Draw Phase.

In the Main Phase, he activated Mimighoul Dungeon and used its effect to add Mimighoul Dragon from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to add Mimighoul Maker from his Deck to his hand. He activated Where Arf Thou? to add Mimighoul Archfiend from his Deck to his hand and then activated Mimighoul Maker. He revealed Mimighoul Slime and Mimighoul Flower from his Deck, and randomly Special Summoned Mimighoul Slime face-down to Kerr’s field and added Flower to his hand. He Special Summoned Mimighoul Archfiend from his hand and activated its effect to try to flip up the face-down Slime; but Kerr used the effect of Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill to negate the Archfiend’s effect. Green combined his 2 monsters to Xyz Summon Ripple Bird and used its effect to flip the Slime face-up. Slime’s effect activated, allowing Green to Special Summon Mimighoul Fairy from his Deck before taking control of the Slime. Next, Green combined Slime with Fairy to Xyz Summon Giant Mimighoul. He used its effect to add Mimighoul Room from his Deck to his hand. He then activated the effect of Flower in his hand to Special Summon it to Kerr’s field face-down. Green used Ripple Bird’s effect to flip the Flower up, allowing Green to add Mimighoul Archfiend from his Deck to his hand before taking control of the Flower. He combined his two Xyz Monsters to Summon Number F0: Utopia Future, then used it as an Xyz Material to Summon Number F0: Utopic Draco Future. He activated the effect of Mimighoul Archfiend in his hand to Summon it face-down to Kerr’s field. Then he activated the effect of Mimighoul Armor in his hand to Special Summon it to his own field. He combined his two Level 1 monsters to Xyz Summon Mimighoul Throne, then used Throne’s effect to Special Summon Mimighoul Master from his Deck. He used the Master’s effect to add Mimighoul Dragon from his Deck to his hand. He Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Kerr drew Jurrac Stego and added it to his hand of Cosmic Cyclone, Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju, GMX Applied Experiment #55, and Jurrac Aeolo. He Tributed Mimighoul Master to Summon Dogoran to Green’s field, then activated Cosmic Cyclone targeting Green’s face-down Mimighoul Room. Green Chained the Room and Special Summoned a Mimighoul Dragon face-down to Kerr’s field. Kerr Flip Summoned Mimighoul Archfiend and its effect activated. He discarded a card, Green drew a card, and then Green took control of the Archfiend. Next, Kerr activated his Applied Experiment. He excavated 9 cards before revealing both a Dinosaur and a GMX card, causing him to lose 3600 Life Points, and then fused GMX Partner Selandea with Jurrac Stego to Summon GMX – ALLOS. He activated ALLOS’s effect, and when Green Chained his Utopic Draco Future’s effect to negate the activation of the effect and take control of ALLOS, Kerr conceded.

Duel Three

Kerr opened up Duel 3 with Souleating Oviraptor, Jurrac Stego, Dinowrestler Pankratops, and 2 copies of Small World. He activated Small World. First he revealed Pankratops from his hand, then he banished GMX Suppression Squad from his Deck face-down and banished the Pankratops from his hand face-down to add Miscellaneousaurus from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Jurrac Stego and activated its effect. He used Stego’s effect to destroy the Stego and Special Summoned 2 Jurrac Megalos and 2 Jurrac Aeolos from his Deck. He used an Aeolo’s effect to Special Summon a Stego back from the Graveyard, then Tuned Stego with a Megalo to Synchro Summon Velphito. He then Tributed another Aeolo to Special Summon Jurrac Stego from his Graveyard. He Tuned Megalo with Velphito to Synchro Summon Horned Brute Carnovorus. He Tuned it with his Stego to Synchro Summon Astero and used its effect to Set Jurrac Volcano from his Deck. He flipped it, then banished Miscellaneousaurus from his Graveyard along with 3 other Dinosaurs to Special Summon Souleating Oviraptor from his Deck with the effect of Miscellaneousaurus. He used Oviraptor’s effect to send Returned Dino Daneen from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he used Jurrac Volcano to destroy Astero and Special Summon Jurrac Megalo from his Deck. He used Oviraptor’s effect to destroy Megalo and Special Summon Daneen from his Graveyard. He used the effects of Megalo and Daneen. He added Chairman Kimridge to his hand and sent an Astero from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard. He activated Kimridge’s effect in his hand to return it to his Deck and add GMX Applied Experiment #55 from his Deck to his hand. He activated it and excavated 6 cards before revealing both a Dinosaur and GMX monster. He lost 2400 Life Points and fused Jurrac Titano with GMX Partner Selandea to Summon GMX – ALLOS. He used ALLOS’s effect to Special Summon Carnovorus from his Graveyard. He Tuned it with ALLOS to Summon another Jurrac Astero, and used its effect to Set Jurrac Impact from his Deck to his field. Next, he used Daneen’s effect to fuse Daneen with ALLOS and Summon Evolved Daneen. He used the effects of his Daneens to increase his monsters’ ATK and add GMX 55th Experiment Report from his Deck to his hand. He Set it face-down and then ended his turn.

Green activated Mimighoul Dungeon. He tried to use its effect, and Kerr Chained Jurrac Impact to destroy all cards on the field, including the Dungeon! Kerr used his Volcano’s effect to protect Astero by banishing a Dinosaur from his Graveyard, and Astero remained on the field. Green Normal Summoned Treasure Panther next, and then activated Where Arf Thou? to add Mimighoul Armor from his Deck to his hand. He used the Armor’s effect to Special Summon it to his field and then combined both of his monsters to try to Xyz Summon Giant Mimighoul; but Kerr negated its Summon with his Astero by banishing 2 Dinosaurs from his Graveyard. Green activated Triple Tactics Thrust next, and added Mimighoul Maker from his Deck to his hand. He activated it, and Kerr Chained the effect of the Astero in his Graveyard. He banished it along with a Stego to Summon Jurrac Meteor, and then the Maker resolved. Green revealed Mimighoul Dragon and Mimighoul Slime from his Deck. He Summoned the Dragon to Kerr’s field face-down and added Slime to his hand, then Kerr used Jurrac Meteor’s effect to destroy all cards on the field after it was Summoned. Green Set a card to his back row and ended his turn. In the End Phase, Kerr activated the effect of another Astero to Summon another Meteor, and used Meteor’s effect to destroy Green’s face-down Mimighoul Room and Special Summon Jurrac Aeolo from the Graveyard.

Kerr drew GMX Partner Selandea and then Normal Summoned Oviraptor. He activated its effect to add Ultimate Conductor Tyranno from his Deck to his hand. He Tributed Aeolo to Special Summon Stego from his Graveyard and then combined Stego with Oviraptor to Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Next, he banished Experiment Report from his Graveyard to add GMX Researcher Selande to his hand after excavating a bunch of cards, and then he Special Summoned Evolved Daneen from his Graveyard by using Evolved Daneen’s effect. He Special Summoned Ultimate Conductor Tyranno next by banishing 2 Dinosaurs from his Graveyard.  With over 8000 ATK on Kerr’s field, Green conceded.
