Zackoria Louis from Norton, Ohio is using a Regenesis Voiceless Voice Deck in this weekend’s Genesis Format Main Event, while Gavin Brown from East Grand Rapids, Michigan is using a Fluffal Deck that features a bunch of Fairy monsters! Both Duelists are currently 2-0 in the event, and now they’re facing off in this Round 3 Feature Match! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Louis started off Duel 1 by activating the effect of the Royal Archfiend in his hand.

He Tributed it to add Regenesis Archfiend from his Deck to his hand. Next, he revealed Regenesis Warrior to Special Summon the Archfiend and used his Archfiend’s effect to add Regenesis Sage from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned the Sage from his hand and then activated Barrier of the Voiceless Voice. He used its effect to add Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his hand and then used Saffira’s effect by discarding it to send Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his Graveyard and add Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Regenesis to add Regenesis Lord from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned it by banishing his Archfiend and then used the Lord’s effect to Set Regenesis Birth from his Deck. He banished Saffira from his Graveyard to Ritual Summon Skull Guardian by Tributing Regenesis Lord. He used Skull Guardian’s effect to add Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his hand, then Normal Summoned Lo and used Lo’s effect to place Blessing of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck face-up on his field. He used Blessing’s effect to add Saffira to his hand from banishment and then Special Summoned Regenesis Warrior. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Brown opened up with Herald of Green Light, Gravekeeper’s Trap, Foolish Burial Goods, Foolish Burial, and Vingolf’s Blessing. He drew Keldo the Sacred Protector and then Louis flipped up Regenesis Birth in the Draw Phase. Brown activated Vingolf’s Blessing and activated its effect to send Gem-Knight Nepyrim from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated its effect by sending Gravekeeper’s Trap from his hand to his Graveyard and Special Summoned Nepyrim. Next, he used its on-field effect to add Gem-Knight Quartz from his Deck to his hand. He then used Nepyrim’s effect to gain an Extra Normal Summon for a “Gem” monster, and used it to Summon Gem-Knight Quartz. He combined his 2 monsters to Xyz Summon Evilswarm Exciton Knight and then activated its effect by detaching an Xyz Material; but Louis Chained his Sage’s effect by sending his Warrior to the Graveyard, negating the Exciton Knight’s effect and destroying the Exciton Knight! Next, Brown activated Foolish Burial Goods to send Toy Vendor from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used its effect to add Fluffal Dolphin from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned the Dolphin, and then Louis activated Dogmatika Punishment targeting the Dolphin. He Sent Fossil Warrior Skull Knight from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard, destroying the Dolphin, and Brown promptly conceded.

Duel Two

Brown opened up Duel 2 with Herald of Orange Light, Vingolf’s Blessing, Eva, Foolish Burial Goods, and Gem-Knight Nepyrim.

He activated Vingolf’s Blessing and sent Gem-Knight Nepyrim from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated its effect by sending a Nepyrim from his hand to his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Nepyrim. He used its effect to add Quartz from his Deck to his hand and then used Nepyrim’s effect to gain a Normal Summon for a “Gem” monster. He used it to Summon Quartz and then activated Foolish Burial Goods. He sent Toy Vendor to his Graveyard and used its effect to add Fluffal Dolphin from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to Set Toy Vendor from his Graveyard and send Fluffal Wings from his Deck to his Graveyard. He combined Dolphin and Nepyrim to Xyz Summon Number 60: Dugares the Timeless and used its effect to draw 2 cards, discard 1 card, and skip his next Draw Phase. He drew 2 cards and discarded Eva, then used Eva’s effect. He banished 2 copies of Nepyrim from his Graveyard to add Herald of Orange Light and Herald of Green Light from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used Dugares as Xyz Material to Xyz Summon Xyz Armor Fortress and used its effect by detaching an Xyz Material from it to add Full-Armored Xyz from his Deck to his hand. Next, he flipped up Toy Vendor and then activated the effect of Wings in his Graveyard by banishing it. He used its effect to banish the Dolphin, draw a card, and then send Toy Vendor from his field to his Graveyard to draw another card. He activated his Toy Vendor’s effect to add Fluffal Dog from his Deck to his hand and then Special Summoned Mudora the Sword Oracle from his hand by discarding Fluffal Dog. He used Mudora’s effect to place Gravekeeper’s Trap on his field. Next, he activated the Trap’s effect by discarding Vingolf’s Blessing, and he added Zolga the Prophet from his Deck to his hand. He then used the effect of Vingolf’s Blessing to Special Summon Dog from his Graveyard, and then activated the effect of Zolga the Prophet to Special Summon it. He used its effect to look at the top 5 cards of each Deck and then return them. Next, he combined Zolga with Dog and Quartz to Xyz Summon Bujinki Amaterasu. He detached an Xyz Material from it to activate its effect and Special Summon Nepyrim and then combined Nepyrim with Mudora to Xyz Summon Number 39: Utopia Rising. He used its effect to Special Summon Dugares back to his field, then discarded Full-Armored Xyz from his hand to Xyz Summon Full Armored Utopic Ray Lancer. Next, he combined the Utopic Ray Lancer with Dugares to Xyz Summon Eclipse Twins, and used Xyz Armor Fortress as an Xyz Material to Summon Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer.  He then Special Summoned Number 39: Utopia Rising from his Graveyard with the Utopia Rising’s effect. He then used Eclipse Twins and Utopia Rising as Xyz Materials to Xyz Summon Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal. Finally, he used his Dark Knight Lancer’s effect to return Full-Armored Xyz from his Graveyard to his hand.

Louis began his turn, and in his Draw Phase, Brown predicted that the top card of his Deck was Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended with his Gravekeeper’s Trap. Louis revealed Sauravis, and it was sent to the Graveyard instead of being added to Louis’s hand. Louis Special Summoned Regenesis Warrior from his hand and then activated its effect by Tributing it to try to return Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal to the hand; but Brown activated the effect of Herald of Orange Light from his hand by discarding Eva to negate the activation of its effect! He then used Eva’s effect to add Herald of Orange Light and Herald of Green Light from his Deck to his hand. He then used his Amaterasu’s effect to add Nepyrim from banishment to his hand. Louis promptly conceded, unable to make any progress building a field.

The Match is going to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Louis started off Duel 3 by activating the effect of Royal Archfiend in his hand and Tributing it to add Regenesis Archfiend from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Regenesis Archfiend from his hand by revealing Regenesis Warrior and then activated its effect on the field to try to add a Regenesis card from his Deck to his hand; but Brown activated the effect of Herald of Orange Light in his hand by discarding Mudora the Sword Oracle, negating the activation of the Archfiend and destroying it. Louis ended his turn with no further play.

Brown drew Gem-Knight Nepyrim and added it to his hand of Book of Eclipse, Zolga the Prophet, and Herald of Orange Light. He Normal Summoned Nepyrim, used its effect to add Quartz from his Deck to his hand, and then used Nepyrim’s effect to gain a Normal Summon that he used on Quartz. Next, he Special Summoned Zolga the Prophet from his hand and used its effect to look at the top 5 cards of each Deck. He combined Quartz with Nepyrim to Xyz Summon Number 60: Dugares the Timeless and then activated its effect to draw Fluffal Bear and Illusion Gate, and discard the Illusion Gate. Next, he Xyz Summoned Xyz Armor Fortress over Dugares, prompting Louis to activate the effect of Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Thunderbolt from his hand; but Brown Chained the effect of Herald of Orange Light by discarding Fluffal Bear to negate the activation of Fleurdelis and destroy it. Next, Brown used the Armor Fortress’s effect to add Full-Armored Xyz from his Deck to his hand. He then Xyz Summoned Full Armored Crystalzero Lancer over Armor Fortress and entered his Battle Phase. He attacked directly with his Zolga and his Lancer, dropping Louis down to 3600 Life Points. Brown Set 2 cards to his back row and then used the effect of the Mudora in his Graveyard to return Regenesis Archfiend and Fleurdelis to Louis’s Deck, and return Quartz to his own Deck, from the Graveyards.

Louis activated the effect of another Royal Archfiend by Tributing it from his hand, adding Regenesis Archfiend from his Deck to his hand once again. Brown flipped Full-Armored Xyz to Xyz Summon Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer using Crystalzero Lancer as an Xyz Material, and then Louis activated the effect of another Fleurdelis from his hand. He Special Summoned it and Set Dogmatika Punishment from his Deck with its effect. He revealed Regenesis Warrior from his hand to Special Summon Regenesis Archfiend and used the Archfiend’s effect to add Regenesis Code from his Deck to his hand. He combined Fleurdelis with Archfiend to Xyz Summon Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings and used its effect to destroy all monsters on the field. Brown Chained the effect of Full-Armored Xyz by banishing it from his Graveyard, targeting Dark Knight Lancer; but Louis Chained Dogmatika Punishment and sent Five-Headed Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to destroy the Dark Knight Lancer! Garunix’s effect resolved to destroy Zolga, and then with no monsters left on his field, and unable to draw a card in his next turn due to the effect of Number 60: Dugares the Timeless, Brown conceded.
