Douglas Zeeff from Grand Rapids, Michigan and Trayton Tragesser from Terre Haute, Indiana both currently have 4-1 records in the Genesys Format Main Event here at YCS Columbus! Zeeff is using an Exosister Deck, which recently got new support in Burst Protocol. Tragesser is using a Deck built around Red Dragon Archfiend, filled with new support from the recently released Blazing Dominion booster set. Now, they’re Dueling against one another in this Round 6 Feature Match. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Tragesser started off Duel 1 by activating the effect of Darkness Resonator.

He Special Summoned it from his hand by revealing Red Dragon Archfiend from his Extra Deck and used its effect to gain an extra Normal Summon for a Resonator. He Normal Summoned Bone Archfiend and used its effect to send Vision Resonator from his Deck to his Graveyard and increase his Archfiend’s Level by 1. He then used Vision Resonator’s effect to add Crimson Gaia from his Deck to his hand. He Tuned his 2 monsters together to Synchro Summon The Crimson King and used its effect to add Power Vice Dragon from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Power Vice Dragon from his hand and used its effect to add Chain Resonator from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned the Chain Resonator and used its effect to Special Summon Soul Resonator from his Deck. He used Soul’s effect to add Synkron Resonator from his Deck to his hand. He then Tuned Soul Resonator with Power Vice Dragon to Summon Scarred Dragon Archfiend. He Special Summoned Synkron Resonator from his hand next and Tuned it with Scarred Dragon Archfiend to Synchro Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss. He activated the effects of Scarred and Synkron, adding Vision Resonator from his Graveyard to his hand and Special Summoning Red Dragon Archfiend from his Extra Deck. He Special Summoned the Vision Resonator and then Tuned it with Red Dragon Archfiend to Synchro Summon Arms of Genex Return Zero. He activated Crimson Gaia next, and used its effect to add Red Zone from his Deck to his hand. He activated Resonator Call to add Darkness Resonator from his Deck to his hand next. He activated the effect of the Bone Archfiend in his Graveyard to Special Summon it by sending Chain Resonator from his field to his Graveyard. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Zeeff opened up with Exosister Martha, Exosister Stella, Exosister Elis, and 2 copies of Seventh Tachyon. He drew another Exosister Elis for his turn and then activated Seventh Tachyon by revealing Number 104: Masquerade from his Extra Deck. He added Sakitama from his Deck to his hand and then returned his other Seventh Tachyon to the top of his Deck. He activated the effect of Exosister Martha in his hand next, but Tragesser activated the effect of Return Zero! He banished Chain Resonator from his Graveyard to negate the activation of Martha’s effect and destroy Martha. Zeeff activated Sakitama’s effect by revealing it and then Normal Summoned it by its effect. He Normal Summoned Stella next and activated Stella’s effect to try to Special Summon a monster; but Tragesser Chained Red Zone and targeted Stella with its effect, followed by Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss’s effect targeting Stella. Stella’s effect was negated by the Hot Red Dragon, and then Stella was destroyed by Red Zone. Zeeff finally conceded, realizing there was no way to fight through Tragesser’s field.

Tragesser builds an insurmountable field on his first turn, taking a quick victory over Zeeff’s Exosisters in Duel 1!

Duel Two

Zeeff opened up Duel 2 with Dimensional Fissure, Exosister Betrayal, Blizzard, Exosister Pax, and Exosister Elis.

He activated Dimensional Fissure and then activated Pax by paying 800 Life Points. He added Exosister Martha to his hand and then activated its effect by revealing it from his hand. He Special Summoned Martha from his hand along with Elis from his Deck and then revealed Elis from his hand to Special Summon it. He combined both copies of Elis to Xyz Summon Exosister Karmael and activated its effect to be able to Set a Spell or Trap in the End Phase. Zeeff activated Exosister Betrayal next. He added Exosister Sophia and Exosister Stella from his Deck to his hand and then discarded the Stella, which was banished by Dimensional Fissure. He Normal Summoned Sophia next, and used its effect to draw Dimension Shifter. He combined Martha with Sophia to Xyz Summon Exosister Mikailis and then detached Martha to activate Mikailis’s effect and add Exosister Returnia from his Deck to his hand. He Set Returnia and Blizzard, then Set Exosister Vadis from his Deck with Karmael’s effect in the End Phase.

Tragesser Tributed Zeeff’s Karmael to Special Summon Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju to his field in Attack Position, then Special Summoned Power Vice Dragon from his hand. He activated its effect to add Soul Resonator from his Deck to his hand. He activated the effect of Darkness Resonator in his hand and Special Summoned it by revealing Red Dragon Archfiend from his Extra Deck. He activated its effect on the field to gain a Normal Summon for a Resonator monster and then Tuned Power Vice Dragon with Darkness Resonator to Synchro Summon Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend. He activated its effect to destroy all of Zeeff’s monsters and inflict 1000 points of damage to Zeeff’s Life Points. Next, Tragesser Normal Summoned Soul Resonator with his extra Normal Summon and used its effect to add Synkron Resonator from his Deck to his hand. He activated the effect of Fiend Piece Golem in his hand next, and Special Summoned it to his field. He Tuned it with Soul Resonator to Synchro Summon The Crimson King and used The Crimson King’s effect to add Crimson Gaia from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Synkron Resonator from his hand next, prompting Zeeff to activate Exosister Vadis by paying 800 Life Points. He Special Summoned Exosister Sophia and Exosister Irene from his Deck in Defense Position with its effect. Next, he activated Exosister Returnia, targeting The Crimson King. He banished The Crimson King from the Duel and then combined Sophia and Irene to Xyz Summon Exosister Mikailis. He used Mikailis’s effect to immediately banish Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend from the Duel. Tragesser activated Crimson Gaia next and tried to activate its effect; but Zeeff Chained Blizzard to negate its effect. With that, Tragesser conceded.

Duel Three

Tragesser started off Duel 3 by activating the effect of Crimson Resonator in his hand to Special Summon it. He then activated Fiend Piece Golem’s effect to Special Summon it from his hand and reduce its Level to 4. He Tuned his 2 monsters together to Synchro Summon Red Rising Dragon and used its effect to Special Summon Crimson Resonator from his Graveyard. He activated Crimson Resonator’s effect to Special Summon Soul Resonator and Synkron Resonator from his Deck. He then used the Soul Resonator’s effect to add Bone Archfiend from his Deck to his hand. He Tuned Red Rising Dragon with Crimson Resonator to Synchro Summon The Crimson King and activated its effect to add Red Zone from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Bone Archfiend next and Tuned it with Soul Resonator to Summon Crimson Blade Dragon. He used its effect to add Chaos Dragon Levianeer from his Deck to his hand and then Tuned Synkron Resonator with Crimson Blade Dragon to Synchro Summon Scarred Dragon Archfiend. He used the Synkron Resonator’s effect to return Soul Resonator from his Graveyard to his hand and then banished 3 DARK monsters from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Dragon Levianeer. He activated its effect to return a card from Zeeff’s hand to his Deck at random. Next, he Special Summoned Vision Resonator from his hand and Tuned it with Chaos Dragon Levianeer to Synchro Summon Bystial Dis Pater. He activated Dis Pater’s effect to Special Summon his banished Synkron Resonator and then Tuned it with Scarred Dragon Archfiend to Synchro Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss. He activated the Synkron Resonator’s effect to return Vision Resonator from his Graveyard to his hand. Tragesser Set 3 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Zeeff drew Exosister Martha and added it to his hand of Sakitama, Exosister Stella, Exosister Irene, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He activated the effect of Martha in his hand, but Tragesser activated his Dis Pater’s effect by returning his banished Fiend Piece Golem to his Deck in order to destroy Martha. Zeeff Normal Summoned Stella next and activated its effect. Tragesser Chained Red Zone and targeted Stella to destroy it. When Zeeff Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to try to destroy Red Zone, Tragesser Chained Blizzard to negate the effect of Mystical Space Typhoon! With that, Zeeff conceded the Duel and the Match!
