Finals Feature Match: Cameron Neal vs. Avery Foster

August 26th, 2018

Cameron Neal and Avery Foster are two of the most dedicated Duelists in the tournament hall. Before entering the UDS Invitational – Summer 2018 this weekend, Cameron Neal had more UDS points than any other person, with over 1200 UDS points. He entered this tournament with a Round 1 BYE by using 200 of those points. Avery Foster, on the other hand, had more than the 200 UDS points necessary to enter the tournament with a BYE, but instead decided to only spend 100 of those points and enter without a BYE, allowing him to play in Round 1. “No Ultimate Duelist needs a BYE,” says Foster. As you may recall from his Round 1 Feature Match yesterday, Foster said he enjoys the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG so much that he’d rather play the first round than take a free win. Now, as he’s about to Duel in the Finals, he’s proud to say that he played more Matches of Yu-Gi-Oh! in the tournament this weekend than any other Duelist in the room.

Avery Foster is from San Antonio, TX and Cameron Neal is from Dallas, TX so they both traveled to this tournament together and are familiar with one another strategies. They’re both using similar Gouki Decks and have Dueled against one another many times before. In fact, they Dueled once before in this very tournament during the Swiss Rounds, and Foster emerged as the victor. But this is the Finals. This is the Match that really counts. An Ultimate Duelist is about to be named. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Neal won the die roll and elected to go first.

He opened up with 2 copies of Gouki Suprex, Gouki Bearhug, Instant Fusion, and Gouki Twistcobra. He Summoned Suprex and then activated its effect to Special Summon Gouki Twistcobra… and Foster conceded immediately! Foster was unwilling to fight through Isolde, Two Tables of the Noble Knights and the plays that would follow.

Cameron Neal wins the first Duel in a matter of seconds!

Duel Two

Foster started off Duel 2 by Summoning Gouki Octostretch and then activated Instant Fusion to Special Summon Invoked Raidjin.

He combined the two monsters to Link Summon Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights and then used the effects of Octostretch and Isolde to add Gouki Headbatt and Gouki Riscorpio to his hand. He then used Isolde’s effect to send Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade from his Deck to his Graveyard and try to Special Summon a monster from his Deck; but Neal activated the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to stop the Special Summon! Foster ended his turn with only an Isolde on the field!

Neal drew PSY-Framegear Gamma and added it to his hand of Living Fossil, Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, Gouki Suprex, and The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine. He activated Hornet Drones to Special Summon a Sky Striker Ace Token and then Normal Summoned Suprex. He combined his 2 monsters to Link Summon Isolde and used Suprex and Isolde to add Headbatt and Riscorpio to his hand. He then used Isolde’s effect to Special Summon Octostretch by sending Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade from his Deck to his Graveyard and he discarded Riscorpio to Special Summon Headbatt from his hand. He combined Headbatt and Octostretch to Link Summon Knightmare Goblin and used the effects of Headbatt and Octostretch to add Gouki Re-Match and Gouki Twistcobra to his hand. He activated Re-Match to Special Summon Headbatt and Suprex and then combined Isolde with Headbatt and Suprex to Link Summon Firewall Dragon co-Linked to Knightmare Goblin. He banished Isolde and Riscorpio from his Graveyard to return the Phoenix Blade to his hand and then Set The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine. He activated it to Special Summon it and then used Knightmare Goblin to Link Summon Knightmare Mermaid. He activated the Mermaid’s effect and discarded Phoenix Blade to Special Summon Knightmare Corruptor Iblee and draw Monster Reborn! He banished Octostretch and Headbatt from his Graveyard to return the Phoenix Blade to his hand and then used Iblee and Brigandine to Link Summon Knightmare Goblin co-Linked with Firewall Dragon. He activated the effects of his Goblin and Firewall Dragon, and when Foster used Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy Firewall Dragon, Neal Chained Firewall Dragon’s effect to return 2 monsters from his Graveyard to his hand. Neal resolved the effects of his cards and then used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Firewall Dragon back to his field! A couple of Special Summons later it was all over! Neal attacked directly with his field of Knightmare Unicorn, Firewall Dragon, Gouki Suprex, and Gouki Twistcobra to wipe out all 8000 of Foster’s Life Points!

Cameron Neal is the Ultimate Duelist!
