It all comes down to this! Aiden Moneke, from Salem, OR, won yesterday’s Dragon Duel tournament. Now he’s facing the winner of today’s Dragon Duel, Seattle, WA, Duelist Kai Pisan. Both are already winners, but only one can be the YCS Portland Dragon Duel Champion!

Duel 1

Kai won the dice roll and played first. He started with Mind Control, Twin Twisters, Call of the Mummy, Shiranui Solitaire, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He Normal Summoned Solitaire and used its effect, tributing it to Special Summon Uni-Zombie. He activated the effect of Uni-Zombie, sending Necroworld Banshee to the Graveyard. He activated the Banshee’s effect, allowing him to play Zombie World!

Aiden used Mind Control to take Uni-Zombie. He activated Cynet Mining, discarding Salamangreat Rage, and Kai negated it with Ash Blossom. Aiden Set three cards in his back row. In the End Phase, Uni-Zombie returned to Kai.

Kai drew another Twin Twisters. He played it, discarding Call of the Mummy to destroy Salamangreat Rage and Fusion of Fire. He played the other Twin Twisters, discarding Mind Control to destroy Aiden’s Set Salamangreat Circle. He activated Uni-Zombie’s effect again, sending Glow-Up Bloom to the Graveyard. He banished Bloom to Special Summon Doomking Balerdroch. He sent Uni-Zombie and Balerdroch to attack directly, dropping Aiden to 3900 Life Points.

Aiden had no cards on the field or in his hand. He drew for the turn, and conceded the first Duel.

Duel 2

Aiden played first, and began with Salamangreat Circle, adding Salamangreat Spinny to his hand. He Normal Summoned Spinny and Link Summoned Salamangreat Balelynx. Balelynx’s effect added Salamangreat Sanctuary to his hand, and Aiden also Special Summoned Salamangreat Gazelle. Gazelle’s effect sent Salamangreat Rage to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Spinny from the Graveyard, using it with Gazelle for Salamangreat Miragestallio. Its effect Special Summoned Salamangreat Jack Jaguar. He used Jack Jaguar and Balelynx to play Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He used Sanctuary, then used Wolf for another Wolf. The Wolf added Rage to his hand. He Special Summoned Jack Jaguar from the Graveyard, and Sunlight Wolf’s effect added Gazelle to his hand. He Set two back row cards.

Kai had a hand of Foolish Burial, Magic Cylinder, Zombie World, Call of the Mummy, and Doomking Balerdroch. He drew another Zombie World, and Aiden used Artifact Lancea. Kai Set Magic Cylinder, then activated Zombie World. He activated Call of the Mummy and used its effect to play Balerdroch. Aiden flipped Salamangreat Rage to destroy Balerdroch and Zombie World. Kai played his second Zombie World. He used the last card in his hand, Foolish Burial, to send Mezuki to the Graveyard, unable to use it yet due to the effect of Artifact Lancea.

In Aiden’s Standby Phase, Kai Special Summoned Doomking Balerdroch. Aiden Normal Summoned Salamangreat Falco. He used Miragestallio, and Kai negated it with Balerdroch thanks to Zombie World. Aiden Special Summoned Gazelle, which sent Salamangreat Roar to the Graveyard. Aiden flipped Infinite Impermanence to negate Balerdroch and lock down Magic Cylinder. Aiden used Falco and Jack Jaguar to play Knightmare Phoenix. Falco Set Roar on the field, Phoenix discarded Effect Veiler to destroy Zombie World and draw a card. Finally, Sunlight Wolf added Spinny to his hand. He then used Phoenix and Sunlight Wolf for Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax! He used Spinny’s effect from the hand to give Gazelle 500 ATK, then Special Summoned the Spinny. Avramax destroyed Balerdroch, then the rest of his Salamangreats attacked to leave Kai with 3000 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Aiden used Gazelle and Spinny to play a new Sunlight Wolf, and used that for yet another Sunlight Wolf. Wolf added Salamangreat Rage to his hand, and he Set it.

Kai drew Necroworld Banshee. He Normal Summoned it, using its effect, and Aiden flipped Roar to negate the effect. Then, he used Rage to destroy Call of the Mummy and Magic Cylinder! Kai had nothing left to defend himself on his turn!

Duel 3

Kai started the final Duel with a hand of Foolish Burial, Rivalry of Warlords, Scapeghost, Tatsunecro, and Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon. He Set Rivalry and used Foolish Burial to send Necroworld Banshee to the Graveyard. He banished the Banshee to activate Zombie World. Then, he played Tatsunecro, and Aiden negated it with Infinite Impermanence.

In the Draw Phase, Kai flipped Rivalry of Warlords! In combination with Zombie World, this would completely shut down Aiden’s monsters! Since the monsters on the field and in the Graveyard are Zombies due to Zombie World, Rivalry of Warlords would prevent Aiden from using any monsters in his hand, Deck, or Extra Deck! Aiden comtemplated his options for a bit, now stuck under this brutal combo. He used Salamangreat Circle to add Salamangreat Gazelle to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, using its effect to send Salamangreat Foxy to the Graveyard. He activated Foxy’s effect, discarding Spinny to Special Summon Foxy and destroy Zombie World! Aiden continued, using Foxy to Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx, adding Salamangreat Sanctuary to his hand. He Special Summoned Spinny, and used it with Gazelle for Salamangreat Miragestallio. Its effect Special Summoned Salamangreat Jack Jaguar. He used that with Balelynx to play Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He activated Sanctuary, and used Sunlight Wolf for another Wolf. Wolf added Salamangreat Circle to his hand. He then Special Summoned Jack Jaguar, and used it to play another Balelynx. That triggered Sunlight Wolf, which added Gazelle to his hand. He played Fusion of Fire next, combining Miragestallio and Balelynx to play Salamangreat Violet Chimera with 4050 ATK! Sunlight Wolf destroyed Tatsunecro, then Violet Chimera attacked directly! In Main Phase 2, Aiden Set three cards and ended his turn.

Kai drew Mezuki. He Summoned it, and Aiden used Salamangreat Rage to destroy both Mezuki and Rivalry of Warlords. Kai banished Mezuki to Special Summon Tatsunecro. He used Tatsunecro and Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon from his hand to Synchro Summon Shiranui Sunsaga! Aiden flipped Artifact Sanctum to Special Summon Artifact Lancea in Defense Position. Kai sent Sunsaga to attack Violet Chimera, and Aiden banished Balelynx from his Graveyard to protect the Chimera. In the End Phase, Aiden flipped Salamangreat Circle to add Salamangreat Fowl to his hand.

Aiden Normal Summoned Foxy (which failed to find anything) and Special Summoned Fowl. He used Foxy and Violet Chimera to play Knightmare Phoenix, then that and Sunlight Wolf for Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax! Avramax attacked Sunsaga and gained 3500 ATK!
