These Duelists put forth an amazing showing here at the 250^th YCS in Los Angeles. While they won’t be able to claim the title, one of them can still walk away with the Super Rare Anotherverse Dragon Prize Card! It’s Shunping Xu’s Runick Kashtira against Jacob Banuelos’s Floowandereeze. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Banuelos had Upstart Goblin, Floowandereeze & Toccan, Floowandereeze & the Unexplored Winds, Floowandereeze & Eglen, and Evenly Matched. He played Upstart Goblin to draw Pot of Duality, then that to get Terraforming. He used that, adding Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map to his hand. He played it, using its effect to play Eglen, banishing Floowandereeze & Robina. He used the effects of both and added Robin and Floowandereeze & Empen to his hand. He Normal Summoned Robina, adding Floowandereeze & Stri. He Tribute Summoned Empen, returning Eglen to his hand, and Empen’s effect added Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town to his hand. He played Unexplored Winds, putting back Toccan to draw Triple Tactics Talent. He Set Dreaming Town.

In his Draw Phase, Xu used Runick Destruction to blow away Dreaming Town. In his Main Phase he Special Summoned Scareclaw Kashtira, banishing Kashtira Birth from his hand. He used Runick Tip next, getting Runick Fountain, and banishing Banuelos’s sole copy of Jack-In-The-Hand. Xu used Kashtiratheosis to Special Summon Kashtira Riseheart. He activated it, banishing a Kashtira Fenrir from his Deck to banish three cards from Banuelos’s Deck, making Riseheart into a Level 7. He Xyz Summoned Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation. He was Summoning all of his monsters in Defense Position to avoid Empen’s effect. Dark Armed’s effect destroyed Magnificent Map and banished Kashtiratheosis from his own Graveyard. Kashtiratheosis’s effect returned Kashtira Birth to his hand. He played Kashtira Birth, using it to Special Summon Fenrir. Fenrir searched for Kashtira Unicorn. He Normal Summoned Unicorn and searched his Deck for another Kashtira Birth. He used Dark Armed again, destroying Empen and banishing Scareclaw Kashtira from his Graveyard. He activated Runick Fountain, and skipped his Battle Phase due to his Runick spells.

Banuelos drew another Magnificent Map. In the Draw Phase, Xu used Runick Destruction to destroy Unexplored Winds, then Fountain let him draw three new cards. He activated Runick Tip to get Runick Freezing Curses. Banuelos moved to his Battle Phase, and activated Evenly Matched! Xu banished everything except his Fountain. Banuelos Normal Summoned Stri, targeting Tip from Xu’s Graveyard, and returned Robina to his hand, and Xu responded with Freezing Curses to negate Stri. Xu commented on the fact that all three copies of Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure had been banished by Runick spells, and he no longer had to play around it. Banuelos continued, playing Magnificent Map. He banished Toccan from his Deck and Normal Summoned Robina. He added Toccan to his hand, and searched out Eglen. He Normal Summoned Toccan, getting Empen to his hand. He Tributed Stri and Robina for Empen, returning Stri to his hand, but he was unable to use Empen’s with no remaining cards to find. He passed the turn.

In his Draw Phase, Xu played Runick Slumber, targeting Toccan and banishing some of Banuelos’s very diminished Deck. Fountain let Xu draw three new cards. Banuelos had only six cards remaining in his Deck. He played Runick Tip to get Runick Destruction and banish another card. He Special Summoned Fenrir, then Special Summoned Tearlaments Kashtira. Its effect activated, and Xu Chained Runick Destruction to destroy Magnificent Map and banish four more cards. Tearlaments Kashtira resolved, getting the last of Banuelos’s Deck!

Duel 2

Banuelos began with Unexplored Winds, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Mystical Space Typhoon, Robina, and Toccan. He played Robina, and Xu used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring on it. He played Unexplored Winds, returning Toccan to the Deck to draw Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure. He Set Advent and Mystical Space Typhoon.

Xu Special Summoned Unicorn and searched for Kashtiratheosis. He activated it, and Banuelos used Ash Blossom to negate it. Xu used Dark Hole, and Banuelos flipped Advent to banish Robina, adding Eglen to his hand and gaining 500 Life Points. Xu Special Summoned Fenrir next, adding Riseheart to his hand. Fenrir attacked directly, and its effect banished Unexplored Winds. In Main Phase 2, he Special Summoned Riseheart. Its effect banished Kashtira Birth to banish three cards from Banuelos’s Deck. He stacked Riseheart with Fenrir for Dark Armed, which destroyed MST and banished Kashtiratheosis, which then returned Kashtira Birth. He played Runick Tip to get Runick Destruction. He played Kashtira Birth and used it to Special Summon Fenrir. He Set two back row cards.

Banuelos drew Jack-In-The-Hand. He Normal Summoned Eglen, returning Robina to his hand, but had Eglen negated by Freezing Curses. Fenrir then banished Eglen.

Xu began his turn, but Banuelos could already see how this Duel was going. He offered the handshake!

Shunping Xu wins the playoff, and is taking home an Anotherverse Dragon!
