For this Round 3 Feature Match, we have YCS Champion Shunping Xu, from Philadelphia, PA, playing Shaddoll Tearlaments! His opponent is Caleb Mangin, from Valders, WI, repping the Floowandereeze. Two strategies with very different gameplans, but both renowned for their ability to make a lot of plays on their opponent’s turn.

Duel 1

Mangin kicked things off with Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure, banishing Floowandereeze & Empen to add Floowandereeze & Eglen to his hand. Xu responded with Tearlaments Kashtira, banishing Kashtira Fenrir. He sent Tearlaments Havnis and Tearlaments Merrli to the Graveyard, using their effects. Merrli fused with Shaddoll Falco in Xu’s hand for Mudragon of the Swamp, and Havnis fused with that into Predaplant Dragostapelia in Defense Position. Mangin continued, using Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map, revealing Eglen to banish Floowandereeze & Robina. He Normal Summoned Eglen, returning Robina to his hand, and Eglen’s effect added Empen. He Normal Summoned Robina, using its effect to search for Floowandereeze & Toccan. He Tribute Summoned Empen. He returned Eglen to his hand, but Empen was negated by Dragostapelia. Mangin Normal Summoned Toccan, adding the previously banished Empen to his hand, then Tribute Summoned it. He added Toccan back to his hand, and Empen’s effect searched for Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town. He Set three back row cards.

Xu Set a monster and a back row card. Mangin flipped Dreaming Town before the end of the Main Phase. He Normal Summoned Eglen, returning Robina and activating Eglen. Xu targeted Eglen with Dragostapelia, but Mangin had Advent to banish Eglen first! Eglen’s effect added Raiza the Mega Monarch to his hand, and Advent got another Robina. He Normal Summoned Robina, and returned Eglen to his hand. He Normal Summoned Toccan, which added Empen to the hand. He Tribute Summoned Empen, and returned Toccan. Empen’s effect searched for Floowandereeze & the Unexplored Winds. Finally, he Tributed Empen to play Raiza. Since it was Tribute Summoned using another Tribute Summoned monster, it was able to use its full effect to return Xu’s back row card to the top of the Deck, and return itself and Dreaming Town from the Graveyard back to Mangin’s hand.

Mangin played Unexplored Winds. He used Map, revealing Robina and banishing Advent from the Deck. He Normal Summoned Robina, adding Eglen. Using Unexplored Winds, he used Robina and one of Xu’s monsters to play Mega Raiza, and had it spin away Xu’s remaining monster. He played Robina and Eglen, using Eglen to get Mist Valley Apex Avian. He Tribute Summoned Apex Avian, and that gave him enough damage to take the first Duel!

Duel 2

Xu started first this time, but Mangin had Dimension Shifter! Xu played Terraforming, getting Pressured Planet Wraitsoth. He played it, but Mangin had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Xu Set a monster.

Mangin played Robina, Xu tried using Ash Blossom, and Mangin had Crossout Designator! Ash Blossom was negated, and Robina searched for Eglen. Eglen searched for Empen. He Tribute Summoned it, using its effect to add Map, then returned Robina and Eglen to the hand. He played Advent, banishing Robina to search for Toccan. He played Map, banishing Dreaming Town to Normal Summon Toccan. Toccan returned Dreaming Town to the hand. He Set two cards in the back row.

Xu Flip Summoned Shaddoll Squamata, destroying Empen. He then activated King of the Swamp to find Polymerization. He played Primeval Planet Perlereino, searching for Tearlaments Havnis. Mangin flipped Dreaming Town, and Normal Summoned Eglen. He returned Robina to his hand, and Eglen searched for another Empen. He Tribute Summoned Empen, adding Unexplored Winds, and returned Toccan to the hand. He Normal Summoned Robina, which searched for Floowandereeze & Stri, and Eglen returned to the hand. He Normal Summoned Stri, targeting King of the Swamp in Xu’s Graveyard to banish it. Xu continued, activating Polymerization to fuse Squamata with Havnis and Shaddoll Dragon into Guardian Chimera! Dragon destroyed Map. Chimera let him draw two cards and destroy Empen. Finally, Havnis fused with Chimera for Dragostapelia. Perlereino’s effect destroyed Mangin’s Set Infinite Impermanence. Dragostapelia destroyed Stri in battle.

Mangin played Unexplored Winds, putting Robina and Toccan back in the Deck to draw two new cards. He played Pot of Duality, revealing Evenly Matched, Dimension Shifter… and Map! He took the Map and played it, revealing Eglen from hand and banishing Toccan from Deck. He played Eglen, and returned Stri, but Eglen was negated by Dragostapelia. He Normal Summoned Stri, returning Toccan and Empen. He played Toccan to get back Empen. He Tribute Summoned Empen, using Xu’s Field Spell for the Summon thanks to his Unexplored Winds. Empen added Advent to the hand. Empen destroyed Dragostapelia in battle thanks to its ATK reducing effect, and the rest attacked to drop Xu to 4650 Life Points. Mangin Set one back row card.

Xu Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir in Defense Position, adding Tearlaments Kashtira to his hand. He played another Perlereino, adding Tearlaments Scheiren. He Special Summoned it by sending Tearlaments Kashtira, sending Falco in the process. He Special Summoned Falco face-down, then sent two more cards to the Graveyard: Shaddoll Beast and Trivikarma! Trivikarma added Tearlaments Scream to his hand, and he drew a card with Beast. He played Scream, then activated Tearlaments Kashtira from his hand. He sent six cards with Tearlaments Kashtira and Scream, activating Helshaddoll Hollow to mill four more cards, and Tearlaments Sulliek to search for Reinoheart. Thanks to Hollow, Agido the Ancient Sentinel hit the Graveyard, which sent five more cards including Merrli. He activated Merrli to fuse it with Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous from the Graveyard for Granguignol the Dusk Dragon! Its effect sent Shaddoll Apkallone,which added Shaddoll Dragon to the hand, discarding it to destroy Map. He sent Granguignol and Tearlaments Kashtira for Cross-Sheep, then played Reinoheart, sending Havnis to the Graveyard. Havnis fused with King of the Swamp and Reinoheart for Tearlaments Kaleido-Heart in Defense Position. Its effect targeted Empen to shuffle it into the Deck, and Perlereino targeted Kaleido-Heart for destruction. Mangin responded with Advent, banishing Empen, but Xu had Ash Blossom. Perlereino destroyed Kaleido-Heart, which Special Summoned itself with its effect. That triggered Cross-Sheep’s effect to Special Summon Ash Blossom, and he used it with Fenrir to Synchro Summon Baronne de Fleur! Baronne destroyed Scheiren, which let Scheiren fuse with Apkallone for Mudragon of the Swamp. Finally, Xu moved to the Battle Phase. He sent Kaleido-Heart to destroy Toccan, then Baronne attacked to finish the Duel!

Duel 3

The final Duel started with just a few minutes left on the clock. Mangin began with Dimension Shifter! He Normal Summoned Robina, and Xu had Ash Blossom. “No Crossout no Crossout no Crossout” he cried… and Ash Blossom resolved! Mangin passed with just Robina!

Xu Normal Summoned Scheiren and attacked Robina to deal 1200 damage, and the round timer ended! With a Life Point lead, Xu claims victory in the final Duel!
