Round 10 Feature Match: Rehan Saeed vs. Jose Enrique Magno Claudino da Silva
Welcome to Day 2 of YCS Indianapolis! We have an international Feature Match to start things off. Rehan Saeed is here from Toronto, Canada, playing a Voiceless Voice Deck! His opponent traveled just a bit farther. Jose Magno is here all the way from Bazil, playing Centur-Ions!
Duel 1
Magno started with Pot of Prosperity, Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill, Emblema Oath, Effect Veiler, and Centur-Ion Primera. He began with Prosperity, banishing six cards, and added Stand Up Centur-Ion! to his hand. He played Stand Up, using its effect to discard Primera and place Centur-Ion Trudea as a Continuous Trap Card. He Special Summoned Trudea as a Level 8 monster, and it was hit by Saeed’s Ghost Mourner. Magno played Emblema Oath to place a Primera in his back row, and Special Summoned it to add Centur-Ion Phalanx to his hand. He used his monsters to Synchro Summon Centur-Ion Auxila, taking 1000 damage from Ghost Mourner, and Saeed had Effect Veiler for Auxila. Magno Set Phalanx to finish.
Saeed Normal Summoned Diviner of the Herald, Magno used Effect Veiler, and Saeed had Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended to negate Veiler! Diviner sent Trias Hierarchia to the Graveyard. He followed that up with Branded Fusion! From his Deck, he fused Fallen of Albaz and Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice into Albion the Branded Dragon! Magno used his own Ghost Mourner to negate Albion. Saeed discarded Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice to send Prayers of the Voiceless Voice to the Graveyard, adding Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice to his hand. He banished Saffira from the Graveyard to Ritual Summon, and Magno flipped Phalanx to banish Albion until the next Standby Phase, hoping to cut Saeed off the required Levels for the Ritual Summon – but he forgot about Diviner of the Herald’s increased Level! Albion was banished, and Saeed took 2500 damage from Ghost Mourner’s effect. Then Saffira resolved, and Saeed Tributed his Level 9 Diviner of the Herald for Skull Guardian. Skull Guardian added Sauravis, Dragon Sage of the Voiceless Voice to his hand. He also Special Summoned Lo from the Graveyard, and Diviner’s effect Special Summoned a second Lo. Lo’s effect placed Radiance of the Voiceless Voice on the field. Saeed then Special Summoned Sauravis from his hand by returning Prayers and Branded Fusion to the Deck. Saeed used Radiance to Special Summon Saffira from his Deck, then Tributed both copies of Lo to revive Trias Hierarchia, destroying Magno’s Auxila. Magno was left with nothing to defend against Saeed’s full field of monsters!
Duel 2
Magno began with Ghost Mourner, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Bystial Druiswurm, and two copies of Emblema Oath. He used an Oath to Set Stand Up, and flipped it up to activate its effect. He discarded Ghost Mourner to put Primera in his back row, then Special Summoned it. Saeed negated Primera with Ash Blossom. Magno Set Emblema Oath.
Saeed started with Pre-Preparation of Rites, and Magno used his own Ash Blossom. Saeed continued by Normal Summoning Fallen of Albaz, discarding another Ash Blossom to activate it, fusing with Primera into Albion the Branded Dragon. Albion’s effect activated, and Magno responded by banishing Fallen of Albaz with his Druiswurm, Special Summoning the Bystial in the process. Albion destroyed Druiswurm in battle, and Magno did not use its effect, hoping to deal with Albion without triggering its Graveyard effect. Saeed Set two cards in his back row. Still in the Main Phase 2, Magno used Emblema to get Primera, Special Summoned it to get Emeth, then Special Summoned Emeth by returning Primera to the back row.
Magno drew Crossout Designator. He Special Summoned Primera and activated its effect, then Chained Stand Up. He Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Legatia, then Primera’s effect added Trudea to his hand. In a new Chain, Legatia let him draw Bystial Magnamhut – he declined to destroy Albion with Legatia. He Normal Summoned Trudea and used its effect to move it to the back row, placing a new Primera in the back row as well. Legatia attacked and destroyed Albion. In Main Phase 2, he Special Summoned Magnamhut by banishing Albion. He Set Crossout Designator. Magnamhut added Druiswurm to his hand, and Legatia placed another Primera in his back row.
Saeed discarded Saffira, sending Prayers to the Graveyard and adding Skull Guardian to his hand. On the resolution of that, Magno Special Summoned Primera and Trudea, increasing Trudea’s Level by 4. He activated Primera and Stand Up, and Saeed responded with Radiance. Magno responded with Emeth, putting Trudea in the back row to Special Summon Emeth. Saeed’s Radiance put Lo in his hand, Magno Synchro Summoned Crimson Dragon, and finally Primera put a new Stand Up in Magno’s hand. In a new Chain Magno activated Crimson Dragon, targeting Legatia, and Saeed had Infinite Impermanence, but Magno’s Crossout Designator negated Impermanence! Crimson Dragon returned to the Extra Deck and called down the power of Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity! Saeed was helpless under Calamity’s effect and passed the turn.
Magno had plenty of damage on the field, and sent his monsters to end the Duel!
Duel 3
Saeed began the final Duel with two Set cards in his back row.
Magno’s starting hand was two copies of Cosmic Cyclone, Trudea, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Wake Up Centur-Ion!.He drew Prosperity. He used his pair of Cyclones to banish Saeed’s Solemn Scolding and Infinite Impermanence. Prosperity was next, banishing six Extra Deck cards to add Triple Tactics Talent to his hand – a great choice when Saeed was telegraphing more interaction from his passive first turn. Magno played Trudea and used its effect, and Saeed used Effect Veiler. Magno’s Talents let him see Saeed’s hand of just Diviner of the Herald and Prayers, shuffling Diviner back into the Deck. Trudea attacked directly.
Saeed Normal Summoned Lo and put Barrier of the Voiceless Voice on the field. But when he tried using Barrier’s effect, it was destroyed by Magno’s Ghost Ogre.
Magno drew Emblema Oath! He used Trudea’s effect, putting it in the back row to get Primera. He Special Summoned Primera and added Stand Up to his hand. He activated Wake Up to Special Summon a Level 8 Centur-Ion Token, and Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Auxila. Its effect put a new Primera in his hand. He played Stand Up, then used Emblema Oath to put Centur-Ion Gargoyle II in his back row. He Special Summoned Gargoyle II, then Normal Summoned Primera. He Synchro Summoned Legatia! Gargoyle II returned to his hand, and Legatia destroyed Lo while letting him draw Bonfire. Saeed saw the writing on the wall and conceded!
Jose Magno takes the Match with Centur-Ions!
