We’re in the final Swiss round of the Genesys Championship! This Feature Match has Chicago Duelist Dylan Bradley, playing an Elfnote Centur-Ion Deck. He’s up against Ricardo Lopez, from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, playing Branded!

Duel 1

Lopez won the dice roll and played first. Bradley’s opening hand was Centur-Ion Primera, Stand Up Centur-Ion!, Book of Eclipse, Elfnote Lucina, and Elfnotes: Welcome Home.

In the Draw Phase Lopez played Branded in High Spirits, sending Albion the Branded Dragon and Fallen of Albaz to the Graveyard to add Fallen of the White Dragon to his hand. He activated Fallen of the White Dragon’s effect, sending The Dragon that Devours the Dogma to the Graveyard to Special Summon it. White Dragon’s other effect let him Special Summon Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous. He Normal Summoned Guiding Quem, the Virtuous, and it sent Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous to the Graveyard. He tuned Incredible Ecclesia to Fallen of the White Dragon for Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon. He used its effect, banishing it to Special Summon Tri-Brigade Springans Kitt, and then Synchro Summoned The Three Champions of Swordsoul. Kitt’s effect brought Guiding Quem back to the field, and The Three Champions put another Blazing Cartesia in his hand. He Special Summoned Cartesia, then used it to fuse with Champions for Granguignol the Dusk Dragon. Granguignol sent Albion the Shrouded Dragon to the Graveyard, and he used that to send Albaz the Ashen to the Graveyard. He Set two back row cards. In the End Phase, Blazing Cartesia and Incredible Ecclesia went back to his hand. Dogma put Tri-Brigade Mercourier in his hand. Albion the Branded Dragon’s effect Set Branded Retribution, and Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon returned to the field.

Bradley drew Forbidden Chalice. He led with Book of Eclipse, and Lopez scrambled to check his back row cards, but had no response! Bradley was now free to Special Summon Elfnote Lucina in his center Monster Zone. He used its effect to add Elfnote Power Patron to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, and Lopez flipped Book of Lunar Eclipse! He discarded Blazing Cartesia to flip Bradley’s monsters face-down. Bradley played Welcome Home, sending Elfnote Power Patron to the Graveyard for its effect. Lopez flipped Retribution to negate and destroy Welcome Home. Bradley continued by playing Stand Up Centur-Ion!, sending Primera to the Graveyard to put Centur-Ion Trudea in his back row. He Special Summoned Trudea, then used its effect to return it to the back row and add Primera to his back row. He Special Summoned Primera and used its effect to add Wake Up Centur-Ion! to his hand. He played it to Special Summon a Centur-Ion Token, and Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Primera Primus. Its effect put Emblema Oath in his hand. Bradley banished Wake Up from his Graveyard to send Centur-Ion Phalanx to the Graveyard. He played Emblema Oath to put Centur-Ion Atrii in his back row. He Special Summoned Atrii and drew another Lucina. He sent Primera Primus to destroy Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon, then sent Atrii to destroy Guiding Quem. At the end of the Battle Phase, Lopez flipped Branded Banishment to Special Summon Guiding Quem, then fused Bradley’s monsters into Mixousia the Confounder! Lopez was ready to continue with his new monsters, but Bradley knew this Duel was over and conceded.

Duel 2

Bradley started this time with Phalanx, Trudea, Atrii, Elfnote Tinia, and Lucina.

Bradley began by Special Summoning Tinia, which put Welcome Home on the field. He activated its effect, sending Tinia to the Graveyard to Special Summon Elfnote Power Patron. He Special Summoned Lucina, which let him add Elfnote Fortuna to his hand. He Synchro Summoned Elfnote Seraphim Strelitzia. The Power Patron’s effect put another Lucina in his hand. He Special Summoned Fortuna, which placed Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness on the field. He used Strelitzia to revive Elfnote Power Patron, and Synchro Summoned Primera Primus. That put Emblema Oath in his hand, and he played that to Set Stand Up Centur-Ion! on the field. He activated it, discarding Phalanx to put Trudea in his back row. He used that to get Atrii on the field, then Special Summoned it and drew Primera. He tuned Atrii to Trudea for Centur-Ion Auxila, which let him add Wake Up to his hand. He Normal Summoned Primera and had it add Centur-Ion Gargoyle II to his hand. He activated Wake Up for a Level 8 Centur-Ion Token, then tuned Primera to the Token for Centur-Ion Legatia. That let him draw D.D. Crow. He used Rhapsodia to discard Gargoyle and Special Summon Strelitzia. In the End Phase, Legatia and Auxila put Primera and Atrii in the back row.

In the Draw Phase, Lopez activated Branded in High Spirits, and Bradley responded with Rhapsodia, discarding Lucina to Special Summon Tinia and negate High Spirits. He activated Tinia’s effect to swap zones with Fortuna, and Lopez Chained Book of Lunar Eclipse, discarding Springans Kitt. Tinia’s effect still resolved, temporarily banishing Aluber the Jester of Despia. Lopez Normal Summoned Guiding Quem, using its effect to send Albion the Shrouded Dragon to the Graveyard. Lopez Special Summoned his last card in hand: Blazing Cartesia! He used its effect to fuse with Guiding Quem into Granguignol, which sent Titaniklad the Ash Dragon to the Graveyard. He used Albion the Shrouded Dragon’s effect in the Graveyard, sending Albaz the Ashen to the Graveyard. Lopez moved to the Battle Phase, with no option but to attack the center Monster Zone due to Rhapsodia. Granguignol destroyed Tinia. Bradley used D.D. Crow to banish Titaniklad before its effect could activate, and Lopez conceded!

Duel 3

Bradley began the final Duel with Twin Twisters, Primera, Emblema Oath, and two copies of Forbidden Chalice.

Lopez started this time with the effect of Albion the Shrouded Dragon, sending Fallen of the White Dragon to the Graveyard and drawing a card. He played Branded in Red to add Fallen of the White Dragon to his hand, then Special Summoned it by sending Albion the Branded Dragon to the Graveyard. Fallen of the White Dragon’s effect brought Incredible Ecclesia to the field, and he used that to Special Summon The Golden Swordsoul. He Synchro Summoned Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon, and used its effect to Special Summon Guiding Quem. Quem sent Tri-Brigade Springans Kitt to the Graveyard, which let him Special Summon Fallen of the White Dragon. He Special Summoned Blazing Cartesia from his hand, and fused it with Fallen of the White Dragon for Granguignol. Quem revived Cartesia, and Granguignol sent The Dragon that Devours the Dogma to the Graveyard. He Set one card in his back row. In the End Phase, Dogma put Tri-Brigade Mercourier in his hand, and Albion the Branded Dragon Set Branded Banishment on the field. Incredible Ecclesia went back to Lopez’s hand. Finally, Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon returned to the field.

Bradley drew Wake Up. He started with Twin Twisters, discarding Wake Up to destroy Lopez’s two Set cards. Lopez Chained Blazing Cartesia, fusing Granguignol with Fallen of Albaz from his hand, into Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon. Then, his Set Branded Banishment and Book of Lunar Eclipse were destroyed. Bradley Normal Summoned Primera, and it was negated by Mercourier. Bradley moved to the Battle Phase, sending Primera to destroy Guiding Quem. In Main Phase 2, Bradley used Emblema Oath to put Trudea in his back row. He Special Summoned Trudea as a Level 8. Lopez tried Chaining Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon, and Bradley hit it with Forbidden Chalice. Lopez responded with Mirrorjade, sending Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon to the Graveyard, and Bradley negated Mirrorjade with his second Chalice. Trudea put itself and Atrii in the back row. He Special Summoned Atrii and drew Emblema Oath. Lopez now used Rindbrumm to Special Summon Fallen of Albaz, which let him fuse with Bradley’s monsters – Bradley offered the handshake!
