We’re only halfway into the first day of YCS Richmond – there’s a ton of Dueling left to go! Here in Round 5 we have two New York Duelists squaring off in this Feature Match. First up is Steven Grillo from Albany, playing Sinful Spoils Rescue-ACE. This strategy’s seen as the Deck to beat right now, due to its combo potential, resilience, and heavy interaction.
His opponent is Devan Rodriguez, from Buffalo, playing Adventure Horus Phantom Knights! This Deck uses Horus cards as easy ways to discard Phantom Knights, and The Zombie Vampire offers even more Graveyard filling power.
Cameron Neal from Texas is facing off against Carl Gabriel from Maryland. Both Duelists have VIP status, so they both started with a 2-round bye. While Neal secured his VIP status by winning the Summer Ultimate Duelist Series tournament in Kansas City in 2018, and Gabriel won his local VIP Qualifier, which gives every Duelist a shot at being a VIP at the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series.
Neal is piloting Unchained, while Gabriel’s on Bystial Dragon Link. These competitors are fresh and ready to go, so it’s time to Duel!
We’re in Round 3 with another Feature Match! This time we have Timothy Dinh, from Rockville Maryland, piloting Mikanko! His Deck plays Sinful Spoils and Infernoble Knights to synergize with his Equip Spells.
His opponent is Zachary Vicenzi, from Waterbury, Connecticut. He’s brought a Spright Purrely Deck to the table. He’s able to put down the typical Purrely plays which don’t lock you into any specific Summons, then follow up with Sprights for more disruption. The Sprights can also make Rank 2 Xyz Monsters really easily, giving Vicenzi an alternate way to get his Purrely Extra Deck monsters into play.
Arturo Maruri Jr. hails from Greensboro North Carolina, and this weekend he’s playing Tearlaments, a popular Deck among competitors here in Day 1. Aubrey Richardson, from Baltimore Maryland, is playing Heroes. Both of these Duelists are eager to start the Match!
We’re in Round 2 of 9 Swiss Rounds today, and it’s time to Duel!
Welcome to Round 1 of YCS Richmond! We’ve got Orlando Duelist Bobby Kenny, planning a very unique build: Phantom Knight Ogdoadics! This Deck is using multiple engines bridging Sinful Spoils into Evols, Ogdoadics into Phantom Knights, and varied Extra Deck with Link, Xyz, and Synchro Monsters. He’s facing Derek French, from nearby Bland, VA. French is using Sinful Spoils Rescue-ACE, the Deck that’s proven itself at multiple YCS events already. French’s Deck is dominant for a reason, but Kenny’s got a major surprise factor on his side!
At each YCS event, the winner of Saturday’s Dragon Duel Tournament faces off against the winner of Sunday’s Dragon Duel Tournament in a showdown that determines the Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend! 12-year-old Austin H. from Wisconsin and 13-year-old Jackson B. from Kentucky both competed in their first YCS Dragon Duel events this weekend and had tremendous success. Jackson won Saturday’s Dragon Duel Tournament to earn his invitation into this playoff and Austin won today’s event to earn a spot Dueling against him. Now, they’re facing off in one Match that will determine which Duelist takes home the trophy and a set of Super Rare Darklord YCS Prize Cards! It’s time to Duel!
Only 2 Duelists remain in the Ultimate Time Wizard Tournament! The first of those Duelists is Oscar Zelaya from Dallas, Texas. Zelaya is a former YCS Champion who won YCS Austin back in 2013. The other is Rick Novak from Chicago, Illinois. These 2 Duelists are about to face off in a Match that will determine which Duelist takes home the GIANT Ultra Rare Rescue Cat! Both players put their trust in the HERO monsters, though Zelaya is using a variant that includes Frog cards, and Novak is using Deep Sea Diva. The Duelists will be playing under the rules and Forbidden & Limited List of the April 2010 Advanced Format, so this Match is sure to be a blast from the past! It’s time to Duel!
Steven Trifunoski and Yucheng Li from Toronto, Canada both play the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME at the same local tournaments. Now, they’re facing off in the third-place playoff! The winner of this Match will take third place and get the Super Rare Anotherverse Gluttonia that comes with it. The other Duelist will go home without a YCS Prize Card this weekend. Trifunoski is using a Mannadium Deck, and Li is using Purrely. It’s time to Duel!
Two wins. Two wins for one of these Duelists to be the next
YCS Champion! We’ve got Logan Johnson, from Seattle, playing the newly popular
Sinful Spoils Rescue-ACE Deck. He’s up against Steven Trifunoski, from Toronto,
ON, who is the last Mannadium Duelist in contention. Will Rescue-ACE meet the
hype, or will Mannadium come out ahead with the power of Field Spells? It’s
time to Duel!
Top 8 is underway, and we have another great Feature Match in store! Yamil Camacho, from Clarksville, TN, is the lone Exosister Duelist to make it to the Top 32. He’s advanced this far, but now he’s facing Jack Li, from Scarborough, ON, and his Purrely Deck. Li is also the final Purrely Duelist in the tournament. Only one Duelist and one Deck can advance!
